Default Help with redneck airboat...

Hey guys. I am building a float/boat to attempt to retrieve my deadsticked airplanes. It may not work but I just wanted to give it a shot and figured it would be fun building. Here are some pictures below of it. I am almost finished but being that I built it from balsa, how do I water proof the balsa? What can I coat the wood with so it doesn't swell/rot.

Can you just apply it with a brush? If so, what could I put on the brush right after I use it to remove the epoxy?

To seal the wood I mix my epoxy with denatured alchohol at a 1/3 each ratio( 1/3 resin, 1/3 hardener, and 1/3 alchohol). Use a cheap brush because you won't want to try to clean it out. I don't think you can ever get it real clean. Dennis

Just use finishing resin it's thin enough so no need to add alchohol. Brush on and then wipe off....it's that easy.

I get called a redneck quite a bit in my club because of some of the things I "rig up".  The guys call it my Redneck Airboat.
