RE: engine problems...help!!!
Thanks guys!!!
Actually, the hull is built of 1/8 inch luan and blue foam...if you look at the outrigger thread, you'll see the same type of construction. I think it's strong, fairly cheap, plus it was what I had on hand:D If you take the width, 8 inches, from left to right, you have: 1/8 luan 2 inch blue foam 1/8 luan 3.5 inch air space ( radio box) 1/8 luan 2 inch blue foam 1/8 luan the blue foam spans the hull front to back. Huge amount of flotation, and I found it helps tremendously in the rigidity also! Static estimation, when I try to twist the hull, it doesn't budge:D |

I stand corrected on the material construcion [X(][8D]
I still will say that the hull is too small for that amount of power. I'm not saying it will not work!..... Yes, it'll go, and fast at that. Stability wise, the beam/length ratio for the amount of power will make it impossible to turn at full speed and stay upright. Just the initial torque frm the engine will want to turn the hull over. If what you want is a straight-line speed hull, you got one. If you want it to be able to turn, you'll have to really throttle back to do it. My latest hull at 25x10 and 2.5#, will be a test for my nerves with the .18 I have on it. But I am confident the boat will come out better than my nerves:D |
