Yogi,
It's a bit of both really, A gentleman in cheshire UK is making them as a plan pack. The model was bought as you see it here. Bryan the chap who makes them builds them up for you . He recons it was easier to do it that way than be on the telephone explaining what to do and how to put it together. All I have to do is glass the seams and give it a coat of epoxy to seal the wood, install the three servo's ( 1 x rudder, 1 x throttle and 1 x to make the man leen when it turns for realism) and away we go. He is only making 35 of them and I bought 14 and 15, I believe he is now up to 20 -25 once this project is complete there are no more planned. They cost £300.00 GBP as you see it in the pictures attached. The pilot isn't included he cost and exta £30.00GBP. I bought two one for me and one for my father. I know he has sold one to someone in Crete. If you need anymore info you know where I am..
Cheers
Shaun

Shaun, thank you mate! Those pics are great and making me nutz! I want one of these hovercraft. I just PM'd you before I saw this latest update. Now I am having second thoughts about what I told you in the PM. But I must not be hasty. Damn!
Anyway it's a beauty! And your workshop is not bad either!
What about the exhaust? Looks rather tight there. And possible heat problems on the inner wall. Have you looked into that?
Tom

RE: 26cc Petrol Engine Driven F2 Model Hovercraft
I know a man that builds minature steam trains for a hobby. He is going to build me a tail pipe to go over the top of the deck. Bryan (it's creator) says it doesn't generate much heat, it'smainly oil residue thats the problem. But this isn't a problem when it's sealed with G4 solution.
I had a long session on it last night and it did my head in[>:], your due for a pix update but nothing serious. I need to be careful or it will end up being a TV soap like Dallas, boring and never ending. But last night I remade one front grill ( remember I have two to finish!!) made two servo boxes for the rudder servo, finished off one cockit dash. It goes on........ I'll put some pix on. Thanks for the vote on my shed, it's good a woman free zone which is a feet in it's self to say I live with three of them[]. I should really have dusted before I took the Picture but.
Well I'll go and take some pix for the update.
See Ya

Well as it happens I have pix of one in action. The pixs here are of the prototype seen with its creator Bryan Clewes. The model was inspired by James Bonds latest film Die Another Day hence the colours and design. I will try and get some pix of the ones he has sold recently that are complete you you to see how they have come out.
Well I'll say no more and let the pix do the rest....
I have uploaded seven action shots but they cannot be made any larger...sorry

RE: 26cc Petrol Engine Driven F2 Model Hovercraft
The dimensions are 4ft in length by 2ft wide, It's one of 35 being made at the moment. ( It's am model project ) I don't know if there will be anymore as yet. I bought number 14 and 15. The only web site i know of is this forum and you could try this one www.shedpix.com scroll down the page until you get to executive suite, click on that link you should then see Clewes hovercraft. or try the links below I cut and paste from the address bar.
http://www.shedpix.com/vscript/event_display.asp?E=616
http://www.shedpix.com/vscript/event....asp?E=616&P=2
Most of the pictures are on this forum and to get them any larger will cost approx £10.00 GBP for a 7 x 5 photograph size image.
Well chaps, the sun is up [8D]and the sky is blue so I'm going flying with my other toy I have just built, , again with a 26cc Zenoha petrol engine in see pixs attached.
I will post my last few days hover progress, later today on my return
See you later

RE: 26cc Petrol Engine Driven F2 Model Hovercraft
Some more updates of my last two days in the shed.
1. I made the bottom of the cowl neater by flairing it out
2. cut out the holes for the rudder servo and fitted box(s)
3. fitted seat box and plate to make it easier to remove the engine if I ever need to?
4. got both hovercraft to the same state of build
I should be removing the skirt(s) in the next few days to start glassing the bottoms

I don't know how long it took to develop the initial craft but, Bryan is making 4-5 Hovercraft in 5 weeks. I know he is improving the design constantly. these craft have a much improved skirt on the original one. I think I have about 2 to 3 weeks worth of work in these two before it gets a test flight. But I will keep posting to photo's on it's progress.
Thanks for your interest

You dirty old bugger, you couldn't wait to get her skirt off eh?
Looking good Shaun. I hope for sure when you fly these that someone can videotape it and you can be able to post it. And I almost want to see more than the hovercraft flying, the looks and smiles on you and your Dad's faces when you go tearing up the scenery side by side!

Looking sweet! i want one, but since i used my 25cc motor on my motorized bike, it doesnt have a pullstart anymore. What do ya reckon the chances of starting a Line trimmer motor are with a big Electric Starter and a belt?
Seriously though, that hover is looking awesome. Keep it up

Is that thing all ply? Ive decided to build myself a big motor hovercraft with my line motor. I reckon il do mine in fiberglass...
How fast does yours go and how does it handle?
I made an electric one once and when you turned it would just do donuts while going along at its full speed (15kmh)
