I got some new batteries from Hobby King USA. They arrived in just a few days and were only $60 for a 2 cell 4000 40c and a 3 cell 4000 40c. They are wider than regular batts and I had to carve out some of the battery tray. But on the original Kyosho I can't because of the SS bracket.

apart from price thats the only thing that put me off buying aoriginal Kyosho was the ss brackets.

what size are the 4000mah 40c 3s?

maybe some of the guys withKyosho's might be able to shed some light on how to work round it.

if your other board is NQD. you can get roughly 145mm x 50mm x 26mm out of the lipo tray with out much work.
basically just sand all the lil ribs out on the tray and rear wall and then get a grinder and grind and sand the sides out to 50mm then throw either auto car body filler or epoxy putty in where it leaves a gap down the sides of the bottom of the tray and then just sand it up.

Canazi,

I did grind out and fill the NDQ with silicon and it works fine. I think I can even get a 3 cell in there. I ran the 2 cell today at Doheny it was cold windy choppy and very small surf. But it ran great....until Lisa's foot came apart. I asked a kid who was out surfing to retrieve it but a wave came along and brought her in. I used shoe goo to put her back together.
I'll try again tomorrow if I can but its mothers day and ............you know.

Justin,

The Board With out The SS Brackets, Is Actually A Kyosho ( Not NQD )
They Changed The Braces To Pedestals with Brass Fittings.

Yes, The Kyosho Original (1st Edition) had the ss Brackets.
The Next Models Had Posts With Brass Fittings.

Ways To Tell A Kyosho Model Are.

The SS Brackets, The Rudder Hatch Lid, The Battery Compartment.
The Deck Lid Underside has no seal....

The NQD / Venom Will Have A Threaded Rudder Hatch Lid
Posts to hold the servo in place, And the Deck lid will Have A Seal.

had a good rc this morning at Cowries 2-5foot face rights was good because only 2 real surfers out to share with. it gets hard to get a wave out there when there is about 5 or more guys out, dont really like the idea of getting in the way to much, and there is usually a great wave to be had,but it is also reasuring to have someone else around in case i gotta go for a swim after the little girl, lol, like this morning(again, different spot this time) something stuffed up inside the board about 20-30 metres from the rocks, had throttle was just doing circles, thought maybe rudder slipped on shaft or servo issue but as new metal gear servo thought it was the rudder. so quickly threw off the clothes grabbed the flippers (always with me after last time) and started off to the water, thats when i saw that one of the 2 surfers out was paddling over to rescue lisa, what a legend, there was abit of wind about and saved me quite a swim. swam out about 10-15 metres and did a handover, again what a legend, cheers mate.
so after all that i find out the reason why it stuffed up is im an idiot, forgot to put drain screw back in last night and servo got wet and went crazy locked up full right turn. dumb mistake but at least easy fix, everything else seams ok. hopefully back out there tomorrow morning.

have a good one guys

heres a link to cowries when its big just to show you the spot. only been out with rc when its much much much smaller but its a great wave and gonna try to work up to bigger waves ,obviously not that big. but who knows maybe!! anything is possible lol!

that is an amazing break!!! dont really get big clean swells like that on the goldcoast to often.

you would wanna make your rc surfer out of titanium to surf it in those conditions lmao
looks like a top spot if it was small.

yeah its a top break works when its small and big. its not that big very often but nearly always a good wave. just gotta be super confident board wont breakdown or be prepared for a swim to save it from the rocks or blowing out to sea. also a bit of fun/challenge to launch off the rocks going out is pretty easy but coming in gotta time it with a wave over rocks to where you can grab it.lol.

later

ps post last about whats

yeah burleigh is really good but you are fighting with about 50-100 ppl to get a wave and the superbank is the same but even worse proberly 50-150ppl. I sat out the superbank for 2hours once and did not get one wave the goldcoast is a joke. decent beach breaks are very few also.We had kirra that use to be one of the worlds best breaks but the council wrecked it with there sand pumping , it only breaks decent now when its 4ft plus which here is not often.

Im looking into moving to perth soon so im hoping for less crowded ,more offshore wind days and some clean lil peelers for the rc that i keep seeing in jimi's pics and vids :-)

yeah jimis waves look good for sure, would also be good to go rc with someone else too, get a lot of vid for sure.

feigao 540L says 2pole 400-700watt which isnt to bad. Could be the lipo maybe?? you would think with that set up you would get 20-30min runtime.

that leopard motor i brought was ridiculous 4pole 1700watt!!! but i was getting really good run times with it. i wonder if 4pole motors= longer runtimes?

does anyone know?

good luck with it man

ED

you could just use that motor and esc at first see how it goes. Hobbyking are pretty much the way to go these days for brushless setups.

you can go a inrunner motor with a water jacket or go one with a built in jacket ,ends up being roughly the same price ($40)

for escs you can't go past ''seaking'' or ''turnigy'' they are cheap as ($39 for the turnigy)

good luck mate and welcome
