Hi guys,

Just like with real surfboard design.
For average performance levels to evolve to higher standards, there is areal need for newer models.
Designed to incorporate advancements in technology.

So far Maui has led the way but we are stillalong wayfrom having a proven standard production clone model available to all.

Luckily for many RC Surfer operaters, the NQD is a usable hull, but it has some very serious problems.

So I reckon we are all;

DR. Curl-zzz,

I reckon what we really need is a hitech hybrid Kyosho / Maui type model.
By that I mean a machine shaped foam CLONE board with a tough Carbon Fibre skin.
Based primarily on the Kyosho shape with slight improvements and cut out to fit a lunchbox type insert with a bolt down lid.
Designed to fit 3S batteries with 4000-5000Mah and matched up with the right motor for speed, powerand long runtime.

But as this would obviously take a lot of R&D on the part of the manufacturer and a great amount of experimental testing and refining, it probably won't happen soon, if at all ever.

THEREFORE, our only hope of advancement in hull quality and design at this time is WOMBARRA and their new model.

BRENDON........................................... ........ Where are you??????????????????????

We have been working with design guys in Brazil, Japan, U.S.A , Autralia And maybe a few more over the years
and Looked into jet Drives, Carbon Hulls Etc ... It Is A Difficult task to perfect A High Performance Surfer,
and even more Effort to Fund, Market & Distribute on A Global Scale.

It Will Be Exciting To Sea What Brendon Has Going On

Till Then It's Still A Work In Progress, And We All Working On It
At Some Level ...

I race RC cars with Cliff who works for Kyosho. I asked him about the RC Surfer, he was saying for Kyosho to keep the molds in Japan was costing them to much, they get taxed on the molds even in storage. Also for them to make a new model they would have to make a production run of thousands if not 10s of thousands to make any money.

I Don't know who Cliff is, But As Being THE Rep For The Kyosho Surfer With Direct Access To The Corporate
Top Guns, The Molds Have Not Been In Possession Of Kyosho (Japan) For Quite Some Time in Years.

I work With Kyosho America ( Lake Forrest Area) My Contact Is Barry.
Ask Cliff If He Knows Barry ...

It's a small world afterall !

hahah SURF MONSTER!!! yeah i think your right jimi! i think it was one of them that i found on ebay.

i agree with the hull cloning .i would love a fiberglass or carbon hull exactly the same as the kyosho/ Not Quite Dry shape but an inch wider and a better hatch (more deckbolts).they have 6000mah 3s lipos now so it would be good if it had a lipo height clearance of 40mm.

i sure hope brendon is doing something about the deck lids with his new model becuase the plastic decklids are just way to bendy even when they are strenghtend. i was doing some testing in the bath tub ages ago and as the figurine cops force it bends the lid and lets water seep threw where it becomes a weak seal.

Hey Dudettes,

I have the solution.

As Dr Curl-Z is THE #1 RC Surfer Guru / Historian / Curator and the worlds only Authorised Kyosho Pusher,
I reckonhe should take possession of those classic old Kyosho hull molds immediately and start pouring some plastic.

What say you?

Come on Curlz crank it up a notch.

OMG, my wife is gonna absolutely kill me when she finds out I have 3 NIB Original RC Surfers and3 used Original Lisa's out in the shed.

But rumour has it that NQD are winding up production and soon will also be extinct.
Then you will all be using those "Surfer King" things in your pool dreaming about way back when.................

"The Show Must Go On" as they say. LOL!!!

Just jokin'
But ya know, one day very soon thatactually couldhappen to you.

Wonder just how many NIB RC Surfers the Good Dr actually has left???

JIMI

No One I Know, Knows The Whereabouts of The Molds.

I know Kyosho Still has interest in production, That has been
expressed to me By Kyosho directly. They have seen the sport grow
with their 10 year old kits in the most demand.

It makes some business sense to them to start up again
but no word has come further...

I would imagine Wommbarra will have the next production
model into the market.

I have two less Kyoshos as of the past week
As You Are well aware of Jimi

if no one ever produces another model again who cares just more incentive to build full custom maui style boards which may even progress things quicker if more people are trying different things.dont get me wrong i want production boards but if they dont come it wont stop us.

True, And Less Production Models = Less Rc Surfer Crowds At Favorite Spots.

Less Crowds is A Surfer's dream I Bet We all Agree on ...

The Great thing is, Everyone that has written in this forum
is a big part of keeping this "Boat" afloat"

The Rc Surfer Is One of The Coolest "Toys" ever Made

Thanks To Jason, Chris, Kyosho, Planet Toys, Radio Shack, NQD, Maui Boyz
and Even Surfcurls, As We Are A Product Support Based Company Trying To
Keep These Boards Surfing ... I Guess Thats How I Became Dr.Curlz to Jimi
Cause they all take a lot of Medicine !!!

i have to admit to never seeing a rc surfer crowd, of course if you mean all the people asking how much, where do i get one, then yes less crowds would be good. although i usually take the time to explain it and encourage people to get one, if they can handle it.

the amount of time and effort and money etc etc put into these things, they are not just "toys" anymore

The only downside of making your own boards besides it is a lot of messy work is that unless you are a extremely meticulous shaper measuring every aspect,
then no two boards will ever surf the same.

No consistency.

Although I can see that itcould also be quite exciting to see what happens with each new model.

i think you guys all ready have custom boards .with all the mods you have done , and improvements you have made thats not a stock board. brendon has his hands full , to build a production board that is cost effective and works good is a huge task . all of us are at the top of our hobby and we want it all , a board that rips andhas longrun timestimes , with no break downs in other words we need a miracle. good luck to brendon he is are best bet for a miracle

Maui John,
You have mentioned your Board Sharks model on here a few times.
You seem to like that model a lot better than NQD. Leak-less you say?
Out of curiosity, I have picked up a Boardsharks hull for $27.00 from the Dr.
Just hull, deck and motor mount.
I wanna see if I can modify it to fit a Kyosho Dude.
Do you think that will be possible?
I have never seen a Boardsharks model up close, only in pics and vids.
The one in your recent vid seems to handle well.

They seem to be as rare as Kyosho's these days, just a hell of a lot cheaper.

Fish,
How is testing the Ch 3 rail to rail weight shift goin'?

Sea ya.

JIMI
