For the most of it -it would be (2)....surfed just about every day over the past festive season.....sometimes 4 packs in the morning on the high tide ...4 more in the evening.....the more I rc surf - the more I Love it !

This year for myself- is going to be more about 'sharing' and 'advancing' my actual surfing techniques- rather than concentrating on the designing \ building ......Much has been shared about the 'how to build' - more than what can be digested....

Little has been shared about the 'how to surf it' - 'set it up' - 'the variations of moves and jumps'

I have a number of moves now that are pretty routine and polished in my line up and would like to focus on creating\ mastering a few more which I have in mind.......surf \ wind conditions - board weight - rudder shape \ style - prop pitch - power - steering rate \ speed etc all culminate on the day to achieve the ultimate surf experience.....

My style of surfing is certainly more of the 'power surfing' style - Flat out ! I love the 'big air' jumps - forward \ backward flips - rotational rolls both left and right - off the lip rotations back onto the wave - floater's - 360's - hard carving - big spray lip slides - etc ......'EXPLOSIVE''.......

Howzit guys !.....getting back into the 'groove' .....first NEW video post for 2014

The board is still the same 'old' float'er I have been surfing for the best part of 2013 - just gave it a quick makeover ( aerosol spray) the colour works well in the surf.

Dom - your surfing style is getting really smooth & impressive with each video. Sounds as if you are getting same water time as I do - everyday!

Hugh working on the remake of film called "Point Break".
We filmed at Jaws today & again tomorrow.
Here are some pictures taken with my iphone (while I was supposed to be working)

Howzit Hugh - all the best for 2014 - sounds like it cant get any better for you 'already' - rc surfing 'every day' and being part of making a movie classic ( Point Break) being on location filming at JAWS - WOW Factor stuff !.........Live it UP !

As for rc surfing most every day for me - It's almost become as regular as 'walking the dog' - rain or shine - onshore - off- shore - small - medium - big - just SURF IT and ENJOY IT !
Always beats mowing the lawn !....... -

That has to be the 'winning factor' about rc surfing - compared to most all other rc sports - you can 'do it' in most all weather conditions - at the drop of a hat ! - awesome sport !

I put this video together, hoping to demonstrate 'just how much fun' onshore - small - sloppy - surf can be - still offering the opportunity to pull a few good moves - jumps - rotations - 360's - back flips - I have a number of enquirers from the UK and Germany - where the surf is not that good - wanting to enthuse those living there - its all fun !......

Plenty of surfers around - everyone enjoying Bro's STOKE !.......taking a few pointers !......

Default West Coast sess.

Howzit Hugh - Lisa-Marie and I shared in your JAW filming experience 'in a small way' this morning. We stopped on route up the West Coast ( in your sisters neck of the woods if I recall) to squeeze in a quick surf -Unfortunately ! It was so far out due to the low tide - it felt just like the view you had of the surf and surfers whilst filming JAWS - ' far out, almost minuscule' - Lisa-Marie was maxed out on her Zoom and my eyes were fried trying to see Bro for most of the time - even though we were raised somewhat above sea level - I still lost sight of Bro often behind the waves......always good fun !

A little tweak I made a while back, improving my boards performance - is to ónly' bend one side of the bi-fin tip (foil) - the left side - this counters the rotational torque and does not pull the tail down as hard - definitely makes for more speed and improved ( equal) handling - left and right.... ( if you have a aluminium fin its quite easy to straighten out the right hand foil....

Ronk- That is a doggy hull. I pulled the hatch and the seat for it out and put a new board under it. other wise put a 3650 or 2860 aprox 2400kv, and 2 to 3 cell 4500 to 5000mAh batteries and U should be good to go

Ronk - cool video - should be great fun styling an rc surfer on that wake !

The items I would pull from your parts line up is the Birdie ESC - very poor quality - cost me a board due to flaming out....the 2200 mah batts may be a tad low
and a lower rated kv motor will be far more ideal - aim for under 3000kv 3S set up

It would be way to expensive for me to upgrade the ESC and motor(I paid $150 and upgrade would have been $270), so I am aiming for 1/16 style...Again I am not really looking for Speed like most of you guys have as the wake throws alot of power to push..besides the parts on thier way lol..

Hi boardsharks enthusiasts

(btw was wondering when someone was gunna rcsurf a wake!)

Aquired a broken bordsharks while back. stripped electrics sealed hull seam (a plug in the nose for draining or more tape around seam also works) changed cooling to dual style mounted a leaky lisa behind leaning guy's feet.

Self rights good but lisa needs work. Epoxied in some tubes to mount different tails. Only made one, no bounce but turns flat.

Now in storage for another day.............

Nice boat wave Ronk lotsa fun there look fwd to your boardsharks trip!

Ronk- Nice 360 !! You must not have much fin on that board judging by how you carried speed thru that manuver. Endless waist high right or left (till you or the boat run out of gas )

You are going to need a really small prop to keep that motor from burning up and as drag free of a stuffing tube as possible. But you are going to hit a brick wall when you try to run the Marine ESC on a Air radio They don't mix. I could be wrong there might be a way to flash one of them but I learned the hard way, scratching my head and then asking a manufacturer. It's apples and oranges--- Surface and Air don't mix.

If you are succesfull in your lobbying for Maui hope to catch you then. KH

Tunda,
What a pity we did not chat about rc surfing!
My aim is to have one of my rc surfers make a Jaws wave from begin to end one day!
I want to plan a trip to Oahu's north shore before winter's end.
I need to fix some reception issues I am having on 3 of my main boards first
Drop me a text with yr phone #, so we can do some waves soon. 808-870-7000

ronkytonk.
had a similar air/surface issue when i put a watercooler on an air esc... connecting battery had prop spinnin wot, then it kinda worked but not realy.
just my opinion but sometimes a few bucks here and there at the beginning can save mega bucks later.

sorry i edited your quote KH but as you are the only guy running a mod shark with leaning guy and cool running gear couldn't help myself.
