RE: first boat?????
Many will recommend the Nitro Hammer as a good first boat.
You can run in salt water with any boat, but you must follow a few guidelines as well:
1) Rince your boat off inside and out with fresh water or preferably wash it ASAP after you finish running for the day.
2) Remove, clean and grease the driveshaft ASAP after running
3) Flush out the boat's cooling system ASAP after running
Salt water is very corrossive, so the sooner you get the salt off/out., the longer your boat will last

RE: first boat?????
I have a nitro hammer, good boat just wish i had more time to run and tune it....I'd suggest getting it, the radio motor and servos are all great...the only downfall is its speed, and lack of hairpin turning. You can always upgrade to a different hull style by just swapping the motor receiver and servos. If its your first boat go for it, Cheap too!
