Default Brushless motors V 700/800 motors

Hi all
I have a Perkersa/ Pt boat hull and was wondering i have a 25A Viper ESC could it run a 700/800 motor
Also would it be cheaper to buy a brussless outrunner and ESC insted?
Anyone know any V cheap Brussless motor / ESC Sets that can rival a 700/800 motor?
Many Thanks
Jonjoe

Default RE: Brushless motors V 700/800 motors

well, brushless isnt cheap in anyway, but there are cheap setups. Like the feigao brushless motors, which are 540 size inrunners. I still havent switched to brushless completely, (havent bought an esc yet). But I got a 12L feigoa to replace my 700sc, it should have slightly more power and slightly less weight. The cheap Brushless esc is the hextronic esc sold by United Hobbies. Looking at $150 for motor and esc.

Honestly though, for a PT boat(scale boat), I'd stick with a 700sc from offshore electrics. about the same price with a jeti esc. $150 roughly. Here's the thing though, I believe and maybe some people would disagree, but I wouldnt necessarily jump on the brushless setup, just because the price is about the same. The brushed setup could very well last longer, since it better quality equipment. It's mostly up to you

so
brushless setup
feigao 10L-12L 540
Hextronic esc 60amp(probably)

Brushed setup
700sc motor w/brush cooling upgrade
Jeti Navy 600 Water cooled esc.
