RE: What's your favorite boat?
Full size methanol burning Hydo's would be my first choice. Nothing like laying down 12" above the water and going almost 80 MPH![8D] But in the RC world I love Outriggers first and Tunnels would be my next choice. Mono's would be last for me.

Considering the amount of members in the Boating forum, it would be interesting to see the voting results after at least 50% vote.
At only 62 votes, there's still a far ways to go.

RE: What's your favorite boat?
I notice there's a category for monos and one for Deep-V's. Deep-V's are a type of mono (the most common in fact) so if you combine these two categories together the monos are very popular according to this poll.

I'll have to side with hydroracer. If you have never been to an APBA Outboard race - find one.
HOWEVER
I have to give my top vote to not outriggers, but sport hydro's first then mono's and tunnelhulls tied for second.
Greg is right about Deep V's being monohulls, but not all monohulls are Deep V's. Some classes have outlined the degree of rise for a flatbottom mono to have to step into the V class. This I am not sure of though in model powerboat racing. I guess a good example of mono's in model powerboat is Crackerboxes and kits such as a Dumas SK-Daddle.
Here's just a few pic's to help people that haven't seen APBA O/B's and a second look for those who have:

Jetpack,
that looks like a vintage Mercury outboard on that tunnel. I'm curious to know what model year and horsepower it is.

RE: What's your favorite boat?
What Greg is refering to a tunnel is actually a hydroplane that was called a Hedlund that was designed in the early '70's. They could have been bought by the company built per order or as building plans and enjoyed a good run for a few years in APBA over the Sid-Crafts and DeSilva hydros.
The Merc was made in the '50's but I'm not a vintage expert on them. The more popular motor which is close to what you see would have been a Mk20H. I think the one in the pic is one model higher in output.
If you're more interested I posted a link [link=http://www.apba-racing.com/links.html]here[/link] which will have a few vintage outboard links within it, along with other full size topics.
