Default Where to race

Hi, I've been into rc for a while and would like to try my hand in boat racing. I live in CT. I really don't want to travel to far. I looked into the Top speed with the 3.5 . After reading this forum I see you folks really know your stuff. Any help would be great . Thanks

Fishingnut, there is a group that "runs" boats in the Wallingford area. One name that comes to mind is John Virgalla. The group comes to our site in Mansfield Hollow State Park to "race" in our NAMBA sanctioned District 1 races. Check with Joe at Build Right Fly Right Hobbies in Wallingford to see if he has any contacts. You are also welcome to come "play boats" with my club at Mansfield Hollow. We are the Greater Hartford Model Boat Club.

Thanks for the relpy, Do you run a class for the Top gun 2 with the 3.5 engine? I will have to come up and watch a race and pick some brains . The boats seem more difficult to set up than the cars and trucks I run. I would like to get the boat and os21 engine for xmass but don't want what does'nt race. I have the whole winter to wait but am looking forward to try my luck with the boats. Iwill talk to the hobby store , I belive the club in town is the pondscum racers. I asked about the boats a year or two ago and you were right there to help. Thanks again!

Fishingnut, a 3.5 CI engine will fit into our A class (NAMBA terminology). We run both A Mono and A Hydro classes. You are corect in the groups name, Pond Scum is what they call themselves. John is one of the nicer guys you will meet.

You'll find OB tunnels to be a lot easier to set up than an R/C car or truck, believe me as I raced them before returing to boats.. No castor, camber, shock setups, gear changes, a bag full of tires, you get the idea.
