Default water pump location

I need advice as to where to mount my electric water pump. Does it need to have the inlet of the pump through the hull? I currently have it mounted near the engine, and the inlet is at the transom conected to water pick up on the rudder bracket, with about 12 in. of tubing between. The pump works fine, but it will not prime without help. Any thoughts welcome

Default RE: water pump location

Place any pump (your pump) as close to your pickup as possible (within reason), a pump is like it's name, "pump" (or push) it is not designed to suck, (especially any distance)
