Default Remote Chip

I am brand new to this so bear with me. I have a Graupner electro- vee r/c boat and I am in the process of fixing it and I have a remote that is not the same as the boat. The boat has a chip of 64. and the remote has a chip of 84 and the brand of the remote is MRC. Is there a way to get another chip or do i have to buy a whole new remote? Thanks

Verify the MHz on the transmitter, and reciever, and get a matching
pair of "crystals" from Tower Hobbies or your local hobby shop.

If there is a local hobby shop near you, they can probably set you right up.
