Default Considering a new engine....

Hi, right now I'm running an ofna lx2 with a force .28, I'm having some tuning and running issues, if i cant figure out how to get this to run right I may be in the market for a new engine. My question is, what's a good, torquey, and powerful BB engine that is comparable to what I already have, something that is plug n play, something that will fit and the existing clutch Bell and gear will fit the shaft. Not looking to spend a ton since I have no Interest in racing like I used to do years ago. Just let her rip when I take it out. Thanks

For what you would pay for a Chinese RTR engine, you can get one of these engines. They're fantastic runners, easy to tune, and are high quality. Coupled with a 41032 header and 9886 pipe, they're a beast in disguise. If Supertib sees your post and chimes in, he could give you better info than I can, but I know these engines are great. I have one myself.
Engine: http://novarossidirect.com/LEGEND28-8_p_3226.html
Manifold: http://novarossidirect.com/41032_p_2637.html
Pipe: http://novarossidirect.com/51021-EFRA-9886_p_2667.html

The pipe and manifold I listed are really to get the most out of the engine's capabilities. Using the stock Ofna header and pipe will work, but there would be a chunk of power left on the table - especially if the pipe on the car isn't even an 086. If you want good bang for the buck, this is the way to go. If you're on the fence to stay with nitro, then a cheapie RTR engine might be better for you.

No, I'm gonna stay with nitro, we picked up the car for dirt cheap as a way for me to get back into it and my kids to learn a lil too. Previously I as an electric guy many years ago, but nitro makes you work and earn your fun, electric is plug n play.

Good man! Do some looking around on the net about that Novarossi engine I linked to. It's a really nice engine - the starter shaft is sealed by an o-ring - the only brand of engine that seals their starter shafts in the industry that I know of. That is a super nice feature - plus the engine is crazy easy to tune.

I looked into that 28-8, man that thing looks like a monster! Maybe that'll be something for the spring. But it sure looks like a powerhouse

They are great engines. Right on par with the Picco P3 .28s. They're geared more towards Truggy and monster trucks, but would work great in a buggy too. A nice high power .21 would work well for you too though I'm not much of a buggy guy. A lot of the good .21s aren't pullstart though, so if you don't have a bump box to start the engine, an engine with a pullstart or rotostart will be what you'd want. Only caveat to the Novarossi engines is most of them require turbo type glow plugs. On retail level, turbo plugs are more expensive than standard plugs, but if you get them from Nova direct, they're about the same price.

Well the engine just won't hold it's tune. I think it's at the end of its life. Unfortunately the novarossi mentioned i simply can't afford everything for at this time, So that's a next year thing. Considering a Mach 2 .28 but I'm getting mixed reviews on the net about that. Also possibly a .21but I forgot which one I was looking at. I want a good all arounder, something with a quick spool up, good power on the low end and good power to get good top speed. Any suggestions?
