Default engine rev

Newbie here, purchased a used rc10gt2. After running for a couple of minutes it will almost always rev up to the max. Only way to kill it is smother the carb. Always kills the glow plug. Any suggestions as to why?

Have you tried to adjust the high speed needle a bit ritcher? Maybe it doesn't help, but is also possible that the engine is having a false air leak somewhere. Is the idle speed ok when just being started from cold?

Tried that andit idles o.k. at start. I guess i need to look for an air leak. Maybe a dirty carb?

yeah, check for leaks..if it idles ok but revs high as you run the there might be a leak somewhere. also check your back pressure and make sure its not being blocked. blow through the back pressure nipple to clear it.
