Default Setting clutch correctly

What's the best way of doing this?

The car is a Team C Racing TR02T

Basically I've just fried one of the gears in my gearbox and I'm looking to replace it, but hoping that I can relieve some stress on them from now on by letting my clutch slip a bit before it gets to rip my gears to shreds.

stronger springs could help a little.

I would be interested to know if there is a step-by-step method to correctly set up a clutch (I.e. how much should they slip?)
