it smells like a funny car, it depends on the fuel though, byrons has the least smell, odonnels having the most.
to me it smells like alcohol, fresh laundry and hot metal, like S-venom said- victory

My fuels tend to smell like a combination of:
Stale, cheap beer
Burnt composites(Might be the clutch?)
and burning oil.
Not exactly a pleasant scent. lol.
If I wanted I could make it smell like Vanilla though. They make additives for that if the smell bothers you.

its nitric acid- and it paralyzes your diaphram in high enough concentrations... so if you keep smelling it you may end up in heaven...

Guy that used to work at my LHS told me he was forced to try the tutti fruity in a nitro (they make their employees try out the new crap they sell), and he said he felt emasculated seeing his 14lb savage go flying by smelling like a little girls lip balm lol

Pure nitro has a faint almond smell, large rich mixtures also have this smell. Lean mixtures do not. When mixed with methanol you will not have this smell. We are not smelling the nitro in our models, we are smelling the oil. There is no nitric acid when burned, and only dangerous amounts when percentage of nitro is over 70 to 80%. The burning methanol quickly reacts with any nitric acid to reduce it to safe levels. Angus will not sell pure nitro to modelers for this reason, and for longer shelf life.
