Sc10 diff problem

Well, running my sc10 today I thought I stripped the diff gears. The diff was making a sound kinda like a zip tie. It progressively got worse until the truck didnt move. I took the diff apart and found no obvious damage to anything. I googled it an read that it's common for the diff to require shims to tighten up the backlash between the gears. Anybody else have this problem? What shims would I need also. I wish this thing had a ball diff

well i emailed associated and they said they will send me the shims. dont even think they are going to charge me for them. im still going to upgrade to a ball diff since its only $35.

The SC10 diffs do require shims or they skip. I would consider what you are doing with the truck and how much power you are running before jumping to the ball diff. If you're bashing or running a serious brushless system the ball diff is not really a good match. I've never had good luck with them when running any real power.

im running the stock sc450bl system with the 3300kv motor. i plan on racing it once the track opens but i dont plan on any more power. i do want the adjustability option though. open diff kinda sucks if you want to powerslide/drift in the turns.
