Default //update// Help identify the car

Hello,
I picked up this car from the dumpster at the apartment complex I work at. I found the car, radio, and tackle box with spare parts. I'm pretty sure its an hpi and was thinking an rs4 but all the pictures I can find the engines on the wrong side. I just want to find specs, litterature, manuals. Also wondering if the servo is suppose to be mounted like this or if its even the factory stuff. JR 125 racing receiver. Thank you

Nice find, looks like something like a HPI Super Nitro (check out the archives in the HPI website)

Probably is, the purple anodizing is a pretty telltale giveaway that is is an HPI car of some sort, and being that it has belt drive and a primer pump on the tank it's an oldy...Uhh have you tried to fire it up yet? I'm betting all it needs is a new glow plug and perhaps some fuel tank sealing(It has a primer pump, those always leak) and it would run.

I've pulled it a few times to make sure it's not locked up and has good compression. I need to buy some fuel. I'm about an hour away from the closest hobby shop. It look likes it's only been used once or twice. Couple little scratches on the bottom and a little dirt everywhere else. It's in excellent shape. What are the slick tires for? drifting?

Slicks could be for either one. Are they hard and plasticlike or are they soft and rubber? Hard, plastic-like tires = drift, soft rubber tires = grip.

WOW, its amazing what people will throw away!

even suposing the motor is crapped out and would need to be replaced, the chassis itself still holds some value.

now, if that motor can still run, you have a heck of an awsome find!

Definatly an HPI nitro rs4. Not sure its a super nitro-they are a little bigger than the regular rs4s. Its been a while since i saw one, used to race them, so im not sure which it is. Amazing find, wish i was that lucky.

Here enjoy a manual http://www.hpiracing.com/instruction...ruct-nitro.htm
Its a Nitro RS4 with a diff pipe. The stock exhaust mounted in the rear, and was tiny.
In piss poor shape they are worth around $70. That one looks to be in pretty good shape.

No luck firing it up. Wont have any money until the 1st and the fuel tank is almost completely empty, also charging the glow starter which I should have done yesterday. Thank you everybody for the help on identifying and to Syco for the manual. Are you sure it is a Nitro rs4? The plastic on top around the gas tank is different, rear differential looks different, rear shock mount looks different, and different engine. Modified rs4?

After some reading and inspecting more it is a Nitro RS4 2. Counter sunk chassis, purple shock hardware, and adjustable front caster.

I think its jus a RS4 RTR version. All th rs4s had countersunk chassis afaik. On the RS4 2, the front suspension was redesigned, this one appears to be first gen. Don't quote me, but my brother had the RTR version (which looks lik this one) and i had 2 of them, the rs4 racer and the racer 2.

[:-] GREAT find!

I dont think thats an rs4-2 rtr ...but close
yours has some extra purple parts, and the stock .12 or ,15 engine with a different head and pipe on it.

this 1 is mine, all stock rs4-2 (pics as reference)
I have a few more pics if u need them...

Hmm, must've been mistaken. My Racer 2 had a differnet front suspension setup as seen here: http://www.hpiracing.com/graphics/instr/nr2/nr2_23.jpg You can see (zoom in to first pic) how the upper tie rods connect to different spot and it has a built in front belt tensioner.....

The Nitro RS4 Racer and Racer2 were just upgraded versions of the RS4 Nitro RTR and Sports. Full ball bearings, some graphite, the front belt tensioner, and some other doodads.
