There are other threads on this already. Why in the **** do we have to see these worthless threads here ??? Does the wanna be man-child have something better to do than average 15+ posts per day, in your little over 150 day membership ??? 2278 posts ??... WHY ?... Before you know it, there will be threads on= How do i get food to my mouth ??, Do I use too much toilet paper ??, Who shot JR ?? , Why don't I spend time with girls ?? (Now There's a Goood Hobby) !!! One day, hopefully soon, this need to flood the website with a lot of unusable comments shall pass.

It is all about "masculinity" richie. It is evidently important to the author of a previous post. I don't know why it it is of any significance to those who have any doubt of their own....

I'll disregard the fact that not ONE of your answers in this thread has been worth its weight in.....air, and I will reward you with an answer.

I never said it makes ME sound more masculine, especially since I do not run NITRO, but hear it however you want, since you've never been wrong yet....

So do you call a 1:1 cars engine a spark engine then? Or how about brushless RCs, are they "electromagnetic" motors to you? Are you SERIOUSLY going to get an attitude and be cocky just because I dont see it as "glow" being the only thing to call these engines? The internet is truly a wonderful place for people like you.

Of course, the term ''glow'' merely points to the fact that the engine uses a glow plug, similar to diesel engine. Nitro could also be a correct term for it, seeing as how the fuel burnt is partly nitromethane. The terminology is entirely up to you. I also prefer nitro, sounds more masculine. I hear ''glow'' it makes me think of those toys for babies, ya know, ''Your plane/car/boat run on WHAT?!?!?!?''

The fuel "could" indeed be partly nitromethane. The ignition "must" be glow. If it is important to the user to use the term "nitro" because he feels it makes him sound more "masculine"??? Whatever. Any term that satisfies your psychological needs is fine with me.

(Perhaps you could run an engine on testerosone, if you feel the need.

Who do you wish to give you a reply?

Do you have any friends to talk to? Do you play sports? Any coaches? Team mates? There are a lot of mature people who can speak to you. It is not a matter of getting "down to' your level. People of all ages, levels, and walks of life have problems. You would be surprised how many have problems very similar to yours. many much, much worse.

Hang in there.

what if its just my dads car, wha wha!?

i was born 70years old, always respectful, always knew what was appropriate, and what wasnt, always knew when to shut my mouth and when to speak up. ofcourse ive become more mature and wise over the years, but age does not define maturity, there are plenty of immature people who are grown adults.

Thanks HH. I have had some discussions with adults on the usages of "nitro" and your posts will be useful in confirming our conclusions.

Himmler, in order for you to clarify your already well made point, suppose that we had two identical (as close as technology permits) engines, both using current production 1/4-28 glow plugs. (brand of your choice). Let us then suppose we run these on FAI fuel. (.)I assume you are familiar with this standard international blend of methanol and castor oil as used in competition for decades.)

1. Would you, knowing there was no nitromethane in your fuel still refer to your engine as a "Nitro" rather than "glow" engine? If so:

2. If so, would you consider yours bigger than mine?

I hope you will consider this question seriously and consider how our engines should be defined. As I use engines, both "full sized" and model, powered by a variety of fuels ranging from CO2 to propane, diesel (both model and glow-they differ) it would be a good thing for you to recognize that "nitro" is not a valid definition of a model glow ignition engine. Indeed "nitro" is little used outside of the U.S.

HH, I recognize from your prior posts that you are a more than casual modeler. As such let us help to define the terms used in the hobby. I have no intent to be "cocky", nor do I intend to demonstrate any "attitude". I would however, after many years in this hobby like for the hobby to be taken seriously and not diminished by many of the terms and misnomers applied by many of it's practitioners.

ITT: Pedants whine about the nomenclature of our engines.

Seriously guys, who the hell cares? I sure don't. Glow, nitro, 2-stroke, gas, it's all the same. I know what it means. So do you. So stop being so damn pedantic already!

Nomenclature refers to the appropriate naming of something. A pedant is some who argues about or insists on discussing unusually small details that wouldn't matter to a normal person.

I just deleted half this thread, and tbh...
