So my only nitro, the slayer pro, is a good truck and I like it, but I want something nitro I can take bashing. The slayer is ok for this except it doesn't like the grass. I was looking at getting some Proline gladiator tires for the Slayer because I hear they are good in grass. Or should I just confine the Slayer to the track and pavement and pick up a nitro MT what do you guys think??

Depends how much budget you are prepared to allocate to this new car.

Well, that depends. I'm looking pretty hard at the VMX 450 dirt bike also, which is why if I can improve the slayer's traction in grass with a new set of tires I would like to just do that. Also if I do get a new vehicle this month I'll need to be kind of sneaky with it. My parents are on vacation so we're watching their place for them until they return, then I'll be leaving to do so some backpacking. I really don't think it would go so well for me having a new toy show up while my wife is home alone. I might have to wait for an opportune time, if that happens my budget will be significant as I will be drawing checks while I'm gone, minus the small amount I'll be needing for travel. I was thinking either Savage X or Revo 3.3 but would love some other suggestions if you have any. My best friend is picking up a Losi Aftershock, those look ok too, and I want something to take bashing with him that also runs on nitro, might as well max out the noise right?

The Savage is the king. If you expect to have budget for that, there really is no better choice for an MT basher. Even the traxxass fanboys have no choice but to agree. Every RC hobbyist should have a Savage.

I already do have a flux HP, and aside from breaking the front bulkhead on a stake at the track it's been just as durable as they say. But I like the shocks on the revo. I suppose waiting would be the smartest thing to do so I'll have plenty of time to think about it anyways. Thanks.

But some will generally switch to the glorified stadium truck that the revo is at that point

If you already have a Savage, I think the Revo is in fact a good option, but I'll tell you this... You have a Savage Flux HP, the ultimate bad boy. No nitro MT is going to come close in terms of bashing performance to the HP on 4S let alone 6s (not without a very expensive engine anyway, or a very good mod engine). TBH, you should probably get an HPI hellfire or better 1/8th truggy. At least it will keep up with the flux and look good doing it. It will do what a Revo does better, will be raceable, and will be more durable than the Savage.

This is a no brainer. Check out the Losi Ten T. I have run mine in grass, dirt, gravel, whatever. Excellent truggie. The radio, a DX3S is awesome. No extended break in either. This truggie really moves out. Price is kinda steep, anywhere from $450-$500. It's worth it though since the radio alone retails for $250.00. I love mine.

Thanks Chuck, I'll take a look at the ten t. And foxy, I know I won't get the same performance as the flux from a nitro, but I'm not really aiming to. I'm more looking for something that can cover the same ground while I charge my flux batts or just want to run nitro.
Eh, Foxy, I think HPI might have discontinued the Hellfire. All I find at A main and Tower are parts??

Hellfire was just an example. All truggies are basically the same design, some are better than others of course. They are the ultimate bashers though, they can take a beating that would reduce a Savage to a pulp, jump higher and go faster, but all that comes at a price of course, they are designed to be top level racing cars. If you want a serious recommendation for a truggy, I'd say Mugen MBX6T, Xray XT8, but like I say... $$.
