Default New Servo Probs

Just got back into r/c after about a 4 year dead period. busted out my Nitro MT2 a couple weeks ago and began writing the parts list for all of its repairs. One of the repairs was a new steering servo, the original was just losing torque and getting slower. So got myself a Hitec HS-645MG HT servo. Also, my receiver was going out, some sort of problem on the board, so also got me a Futaba R152JE 27mhz receiver.

after installation a new problem began to arise. With fresh batteries, and no noticable flaws in the wires, I noticed the new Hitec steering servo was not getting its full range of motion; the wheels are not turning nearly as far as they should be. I replaced the batteries again, made sure the horn was nice and tight, and all the steering linkage was aswell. I even plugged the original steering servo back into my receiver and it ALSO had this problem which the original servo never had before. Still, the servo is not rotating as much, in both directions, or as fast, as it should be. To make sure I wasn't undersupplying the new servo with power, i plugged it into my other car that uses 4 double A's just like my MT2, and it turned fast and far.

The throttle servo is moving faster than ever, though, and that it why I can't seem to come to a logical diagnosis. But so far, all symptoms are pointing to my receiver, which is a brand new Futaba.. What's your take?

The way you describe the symptoms it does sound like a receiver problem. Have you tried taking the servo horn off? Does it still not have its full range of motion?

Yeah, sounds like the receiver is defective. You may be able to get it warrantied or replaced.

I have taken the horn off, still no fix.

All signs point to the receiver, but this is what's even weirder; I happened to get the original receiver to work again, plugged both servos and batteries into it and the same EXACT problem that it never experienced before occured. Steering barely budges while the throttle is great.

In this case I can only assume that the new servo is occupying more energy than it says it does, but how can that be when I pop the old servo back in and it has the same prob??

I'm completely stumped here []
