That looks like a gear for a ball diff.

That's a differential pulley for an RS4 2 which is belt driven, thats where the belt runs to.

Yep that for the RS4 2 for the belt drive diff. It won't work for the RS4 3 because it is shaft driven.

I always figure that if I don't know what it is, I don't need it.

well.. i'm sure u need somethin else with that to make it work.. since i've lookin in my car and can't find exactly whats it replaces.. but if its for my car.. i might as well pick it up.. hhe.. i'm sure sooner or later i'll put it in..

If you need this for your car I have a brake disc you need too...also from Robinson - Point is...be sure of the part when you order it,you don't sound very sure so hold off on that.
