Default Picco .12 7-port - Break-in

So I have finally received my started box for my CRT .5. Now what do I need to do? Better yet, what do I not want to do? I have never had a new nitro. I need some first timer tips. The good thing is I have 2 of them so if I screw up too bad I have a spare.

It is new out of the boxandhard to turn past TDC. Should I worry about this?

Do I actuallydrive thecar or do I just idle and break in on the stand?

Thank you in advance.

well the 'pinch' at top dead center is a good thing. it means the engine can make a good seal between the piston and liner. then look at this video. the heat cycle method is good for higher performance engines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPcXd-2-EEA but i would recommend a few more runs than he did in the video, just to be safe.

Before I start it do i need to pre heat it with a heat gun?

Also here in Canada it has getting cool at night, 35-40F.  Is there any issue with it colling down too fast?

I plan on starting tonight with the breakin.  Does the foam/foil help it reach temps sooner?  Do I take it off for cool down?

Just to make sure my thinking is right.

1 run variable speeds, 4-5 mins until it gets to 190-200F

Cool

Rerun higher speeds 4-5 mins, higher temp?

Cool
Repeat 4-5 times.

You shouldn't need to pre-heat a 12, but it's never a bad thing to do.

Rapid cooling will not bother it one bit, as long as you aren't dousing it in water or liquid nitrogen

You're correct on the break in, only I'd do it a lot more than 4 or 5 times, but that's just me. Try to let the temperature rise a bit more toward the end of the break in too, I tend to do this kind of cycling about 15 times (I'm paranoid about my engines lasting), but on the last 5 or 6 times, leaning it out a little and going a little bit faster (As long as it 'feels' right, feel is very important) then run normally but leave the tune a bit rich for another 3 tanks, then tune for power if all feels ok. I've usually put about 5 tanks through it by then. Since the air where you are is very dense, make your high end adjustments small.

Thank you,  I am only bashing these machines.  As for experience I have none.  So the feels right, I guess will happen as I get more comfortable.  I will keep it rich for a while anyways.  I will leavethe tweaking until next summer when I actually get it to a track.  I will let the regulars there help me with the tune.
