Hi all, Thanks for taking a look at this thread. I have some questions and would like to know what should I do.
First off was this a good trade a Kyosho DRTfor a Traxxas 4 TEC 3.3 ? The 4 tec runs great just need some tuning help with it I guess.
Secound when a car can go half way throttle but if you put it down to the metal (full throttle ) it bogs out that means its runing too rich right? what should I take into consideration?
Another thing what upgrades should I go for for the 4 tec?
Thanks for everything much appreciated have a great night / day mates!

From what i know if from half to full throttle its bogging out its Rich for sure! <div>I think it was a good trade! the traxxas 4tec is great! and as far as upgrades i'd go with the essentials first. Like a fuel filter if there isn't one installed already. </div>

I would not upgrade the 4-tec too much. It is a great car but it is more entry level compared to some of the other offerings out there. Drive it until you get pretty good with it then swoop up something more competitive, then upgrades will make more sense.

4 tech is a bullet car and is pretty much only good for going straight.
Idk if on road is what your looking for but as far as what I personally would have done is keep the DRT because it is off road capable vs the 4 tech is not as hot on the dirt..

The Nitro 4tec did win the nats and showed up at the Worlds, guys. In stock form it's not good for much other than straight lines, but it can be a competitive car still at the club level.
Anyway, OP, the car can either be too rich or too lean if it's a WOT bog. A lean bog it'll sound like it's stuttering, and a rich bog it'll just puke smoke and not go much of anywhere. Best place to start is at default settings (4 turns out HSN, LSN flush with the housing) and tune from there. It'll be pig rich, but at least you know what you're starting with.

If it's idling fine, leave the idle screw alone, yes.
You want to screw in or unscrew the low speed needle until it is flush with the housing that it sits in, the top of the screw head being dead even with the throttle slide's outer part.

Traxxas website is a GREAT source of info on your car. It will have all the basic info available as downloads as well as videos and advanced set-up and chassis tuning.
Here is a great place to start for your car. Download the manual for it and you will find, among other things, Traxxas instructions for tuning the engine.
