What is the fastest Nitro car I can get under $400? I'm thinking of getting the Traxxas Nitro 4-tec 2.5... is this a good choice? What other brand or type I can get with the money? I want something FAST with just stock, and maybe upgrades later, thx in advance.

If you want something fast then get the 4tec. Then fusion is faster, but you can't control it a 80mph. also the fusion uses as 21 engine and I only see if for around $500.

Swim4tom2000 - The fusion is the fastest car stock out of the box. You can get a rtr for 379.99 at - www.harcohobbies.com. I had a 4tech don't waste your money, the chassis design is old and outdated not very adjustable or tuneable. You can make the fusion handle by getting rid of those skinny kit tires and putting some good foam tires on there. The thunder tiger 21 engine is very easy to tune that 2.5 of traxxas is very hard to tune and tends not to hold its tune. If you don't believe me just go to their website and look and see how many people are having trouble tuning this motor, so many that they had to set up a special thread to handle the complaints. Go with the fusion.

Yeah I'd say go with the fusion car too if you want balls to the wall. 80 mph is no joke so at the very least you should have some spectacular crashes to post and rave about when and if it does indeed happen.

you are getting good feed back. but Nitrofreak is right on the money. what is 80mph if you can't control it. 4 tec is fast right out of the box. no one with the stock rs4, tc3 or yokomo has beaten me yet in a drag race. the 2.5 engine performs well in a 4 tec because it is smaller than the t-maxx. it is the t-maxx that has a lot of problem because of it;s size. think of V6 on semi-truck.
good luck!

The 4tec with the kit tires on it is out of control in the turns too!! And that 2.5 motor is a pos. You can fix the fusion traction problems by putting foam tires on it.

Check out the CEN CT5.
Some of Cen's stuff is junk, but this unit is pretty cool. I had one for a while, but realized I just don't have enough good pavement around for a car
