Default some esc help?

So I have the Duratrax Evader ST that I picked up cheap from a buddy. Only problem is that when I plug in the battery, the lights on the ESC don't light up, and my receiver and therefore my servo/throttle don't work. I just wonder if you guys can tell me if I should get a new ESC for it? or is it a different problem?

Sounds like a dead esc to me. Check with an LHS that it is indeed dead before spending money on a new one though.

I assume that you are looking for a brushed ESC? If you are really, really low on funds, then these are alright: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320A-Speed-B...ht_2866wt_1185

If you have a couple bucks and want a capable ESC which will probably out last the truck under normal conditions, then these have always been good: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Slash-XL...#ht_500wt_1202

There are plenty of other options out there, so just look around.

I've only had bad luck with that ESC

Sounds like the receiver's not getting power

Brushed ESC I've had good luck with the traxxas XL-5, and the HPI EN-1 The XL-5 is way better though than the EN-1 as it allows lower turn motors, and in most cases I seen costs less than the EN-1

as the radio I hate AM's, and seeing basic 2.4ghz's you can pick up for $20-25 no real reason to use them IMO anymore
http://www.hobbypartz.com/rccarradios.html I have the GT2, GT3, and GT3b and they all work great. GT3b is a good option if you plan on having 2+ RC's as recievers are only $7.40 each
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=15141 This is a rebranded flysky GT2 radio
