So I have the Duratrax Evader ST that I picked up cheap from a buddy. Only problem is that when I plug in the battery, the lights on the ESC don't light up, and my receiver and therefore my servo/throttle don't work. I just wonder if you guys can tell me if I should get a new ESC for it? or is it a different problem?

Ok thanks for the help/. Do you know by any chance what a cheaper ESC costs?

If you have a couple bucks and want a capable ESC which will probably out last the truck under normal conditions, then these have always been good: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Slash-XL...#ht_500wt_1202
There are plenty of other options out there, so just look around.

Sounds like the receiver's not getting power
Brushed ESC I've had good luck with the traxxas XL-5, and the HPI EN-1 The XL-5 is way better though than the EN-1 as it allows lower turn motors, and in most cases I seen costs less than the EN-1
as the radio I hate AM's, and seeing basic 2.4ghz's you can pick up for $20-25 no real reason to use them IMO anymore
http://www.hobbypartz.com/rccarradios.html I have the GT2, GT3, and GT3b and they all work great. GT3b is a good option if you plan on having 2+ RC's as recievers are only $7.40 each
