Default Traxxas Modification Help

So, I currently own a Traxxas Bandit VXL and i'm taking the leap to LiPo. I've been doing some research and it looks like i'll only be going with a 2S instead of a 3S as people are saying that running the 3S on stock parts will cause stuff to break. Thoughts on this?

Also, the Traxxas website recommends changing the pinion gear to 33T 48P. The only one i can find is made by RRP and i've read that they aren't very good. Does anyone have any recommendations for a better gear?

Lastly, i will be racing (for fun) against my uncle who just picked up a Traxxas E-Maxx. What are my chances against it?

I've never had a problem with robinson racing gears. I certainly would buy them over many others. Stick with 2S, it's more drivable in loose dirt and racing conditions.

Regarding racing against a T-Maxx, the bandit will outperform.

Most importantly, have fun.

Yeah 2s is the way to go, but trust me it's definatly worth having a go on 3s..... Stupid fast can be fun

With the stock wheels there won't be to much load on the gearbox, I wouldent be to worried the traxxas gearbox is strong, and been a VXL the gearbox has all the upgrades.

If u stick with buggy wheels and not truggy or MT wheels u should be fine.

Robinson Racing gears are some of the best out there<div>

In racing type conditions (not in grass, gravel, etc), the rustler in stock form and a 6 cell nimh battery will out perform the e-maxx. Cornering and directional changes are huge advantages for the rustler over the e-maxx.
