I've run my MT and my SS in 2WD by removing the front drive shaft but I didn't get any benefits from it other than the tail end kicking out on a regular basis. If you are concerned with your front diff idling, you can pull the dogbones also. I had heard that you can pick up some speed in the cars by doing this but I didn't notice any.

ill just copy what i wrote on the similar thread in the nitro forum
does your car have a central diff, if so youd need to lock it. also take out all the dogbones ie central and front. you dont want the front diff bleeding power when its not needed and the front wheels will spin more freely and independently without the dogbones in (thats why some real cars have front hub locks)

MadTripper I think you talking about FWD....I heard you can get good run times, faster & more efficiant
I heard of a FWD Tamiya Mini Cooper running for 40 min of 3300 NiMhs & a Mabuchi

he means higher top speed/acceleration in 2wd because the drivetrain is wasting less energy in friction (less moving parts etc), (if the 2 tires have ample traction)
around a track AWD will give better times etc due to its better handling, power down etc

I've been debating running my Savage with front wheel drive since my rear dogbone is in two pieces but I hate the idea of tearing up my diff even though I have the stuff needed to rebuild it. My dogbone had almost turned 90 degrees before it finally gave out & that was when I was running both of them. I don't think it would take long to rip the front one in half.

the momentum from the engine turning at high rpm's will still try and lift the front wheels(ive seen it in my tmaxx and savage when i borke my diff geard and when i broke my dogbones)

I hadn't planned on running it like this, my dogbone broke & I'm waiting for a replacement. I don't see how it could wheelie with just the front wheels pulling anyway. If I tightened my brake I could probably pull some killer endos tho.... hmmm Tempting but that's how & why I originally rebuilt my front diff. lol

the truck wont wheelie but when you press the thorttle, you'll see that when the front tires get pwoer, the front tires mostly just skid over the ground and you'll notice all the power loss.(unless you go really slow or doesnt have that much torque)
