use any fuel,,, is not going to last anyway. (unless you spend another $100+++ on rod and bearings)
sad but true.

TRX 3.3's last just fine. I think almost all rod failures in the TRX engines are due to operator error. I've ran several TRX engines over the years, including 3 3.3's and not one of them has thrown a rod or bearings. One of them has over 6 gallons on the factory bearings, conrod, piston and liner, and pull starter even.

40% nitro is a bit much for how the 3.3 is shimmed - you'd want another head shim or two for it to last on that much nitro even at the high elevation. If that is all you have access to, keep it a little richer and let 'er buck. Get it running, get it hot, and run it. If you baby it, run it sloppy rich, and follow Traxxas's break-in 'suggestions', you will likely encounter a rod failure.

Just my opinion.

3.3 rod failures is nothing new... just because you were lucky with your 3.3s doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist.
theres a reason why 1 or 2 companies are selling aftermarket rods.
sorry but 100sss of split rods arent user errors.

True that there have been a lot of cases of TRX rods failing... BUT there are a lot of idiots running these engines. I seriously doubt Traxxas would continue to sell these engines if there was a serious quality problem. Besides, the 3.3 and 2.5 use the same rod. How come i never see any 2.5's with split rods? Sorry, still not buying it.

Oh, and aftermarket parts exist because people buy them. Just because they sell it doesn't mean you need it. Example: anything Integy.

well., I guess after 25 years playing with nitro I'm also one of those idiots lol.
3 split rods... 2 tmaxx, 1 revo.

why not? they keep selling the tmaxx. I guess those same idiots keep buying it?

thats part of the whole issue, the rod can't handle the stress of the 3.3, and it can not handle WOT runs for log periods of time.

Sorry, still not buying it.

you don't have to, is your personal opinion.
Just google search (trx 3.3 rod failure, or 3.3 fail)

we are talking about a rod... not just any other part.
