I just run it a little and check with my battery checker. Once they are at 3.85V per cell, I stop. It makes a HUGE difference if you do this and limit how much you discharge the battery. I rarely puff a battery.

Fully charge, then discharge to 3.8 v per cell

You do have the LVC turned on, right?

Most of my ESCs, when the LVC is set at 3.4v per cell, and after the low voltage cut-off kicks in under load, the cells will be at or very close to 3.8v

Using a charger's storage mode (if it has one) will automatically discharge/charge a Lithium battery to the recommended v/cell. Sometimes, if I'm in a hurry, I use my 20 amp bulb discharger from back in the day when I used NiCd/NiMh batteries. I also use a Li-ion Battery Tester Low Voltage Buzzer Alarm to warn me of low voltage when using my bulb discharger.
