Is there a metal spur gear for the duratrax evader st? And if it has 87teeth on it now if I go smaller teeth will it increase speed and torque?

There are a few people that have swap in a 32 pitch spur gear on an Evader ST/EXT. IMO not needed.

You are looking to get a metal 48 pitch 87T spur gear? Again IMO, not needed. I've ran Duratrax spur gears on my ST for months before they needed replacing.

Just the slightest bit of movement between the spur and pinion gear...and you're golden . Some people like to use notebook paper as a gauge to get the right amount of space needed between the pinion and spur.

When you decrease tooth count on the spur gear, or you increase tooh count on pinion gear, you will have more top end speed. If you want more low end "umph", lower the tooth count on your pinion gear.

If you indeed have an Evader ST, and running a ball diff, the spur gear is not what you need to worry about . It's the idler and diff gear that will give you trouble with "big" power .

Just a lil' FYI... a 90T spur gear is too big to fit inside the Evader's gear cover. An 88T spur gear is about as big as you're gonna get on the top shaft.

May I ask, what motor you are running? If you are running brushed motors on an original Evader ST, I would not use anything more powerful than a 19T. Long story short: 13T ~15T? brushed motor has taken out my tranny many of times.

RustyUs.... I currently have a 87t plastic gear on it and looking to get a metal one to prevent wear and tear I'm looking for more top speed. The motor and everything I have with the evader st is a 12t motor with an f1 pro reverse servo and duratrax rx- 100 2channel receiver, I picked the car up cheap for 60.00.

A properly set-up slipper clutch will help with the strain put on the gearbox. Run what you got and then, when you're ready, jump on over to the Evader: The How to make it bash-proof Thread.

The other option to keep in mind is using an Associated B2 diff gear mod.

What is an IMO? So I have an 87t spur gear and I want more top end speed and to get that jump off the line(basically do wheelies) so if I go to an 79t spur gear will that help? Here's a pic of the cars I own one on the far left is an evader middle Ecx torment and right traxxas rustler

IMO = In My Opinion

50 Popular Internet Acronyms

I would just keep the spur gear you have and buy a group of pinion gears to find the "sweet spot" you're after. With a 12T motor, your gonna want to start on the conservative side of things. Back in the day the Evader came stock with a 20T motor and a 18T pinion gear with an 88T spur gear. Normally, the "hotter" (more powerful) the motor you use, the tooth count on the pinion gear should go down as well.

What pinion gear do you have now?

I think your wanting more top end speed and pulling wheelies are at two different ends of the gearing realm. It's a give and take thing. You want more torque to be able to do wheelies, but you, more than likely, will lose the top end you are hoping for.

hi profess welder , well you can look at some of the losi nylon gears for a 1/10 scale trucks losi xxxt or the losi xxxnt
these nylon or delrin gears had various numbers of teeth on them 90, 88 ,86 , 84 81 some also would also work
on electric buggies , the slipper gears or trans has to be adjusted correctly for it to work and not destroy the internal gears in the transmission , its jumping that destroys these transmissions and spur gears the formula for the final drive gear ratio example spur gear 86t divide pinion 20 t =4.3 x the internal trans gear ratio = the final drive ratio probably with a 12 turn motor you want a 16 tooth pinion or 15 t adjusting spurs and pinions will either give you more bottom end torque off the line, but not top end speed also you must check heat on batts and 11 ,12 ,13 turn motors too i had a losi xxx bk that was insane fast with a13turn motor ok mugey

Okay I have to rebuild the differential gear on the st and I had to order the gear and the bearings because the whole assembly is discontinued and I was wondering if there was another bearing that goes in with it (a 5x8)? I ordered these any help please, thank you

5x8mm bearings are not used with the diff gear...5x9mm bearings are used.

Other bearings used in gearbox?

(4) 5x10mm bearings
(2) 12x18mm bearings
(2) 5x9mm bearings
(1) Thrust bearing

The diff gear you pictured rides on the 5x9mm bearings.

As long as you can find parts for it, keep running it.
