Returning to hobby with my 9 year old. Tamiya TA-02 Mercedes Touring
I have a old (1999ish?) Tamiya TA-02 Mercedes Touring car. My 9 year old boy found it laying in the back of the garage attic. He is obsessed with anything electronic or mechanical and wants to get it running. It has been in a box for at least 10 years, so its gonna need some work.
Being that my boy is most likely gonna not be easy on this car, I don't want to spend a ton to get this one running.
Ive been looking around on Amazon and at the local Hobbytown, but I don't know exactly what I need.
Radio? https://www.amazon.com/Flysky-FS-GT2...r+and+receiver
ESC? https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Brushe...B4C4SZB1TD49ZF
If switching to the ESC (mine still has a servo controlled mechanical speed controller), will I need a new motor? Should it be a brushed or brushless ESC? Brushed or brushless motor?
What will I need for batteries/charger?
Has anyone ever seen a Dodge Challenger body that would fit the TA-02 chassis? The boy loves Challengers.
Anything else I am forgetting?
Thanks for any help.
