I'd post this in one of the car forums.

Bad_Boy, I'd get the Losi XXX-S, it's my favorite.

Don't get the R40. That would be a terrible first car. (It is nitro, it is a kit, it comes with no engine, and most of all it is a pro level kit!) I'd sugest a electric as a first car because my first real car was a nitro and it was a bad choice, even for a mechanically inclined person like my self.

You know dude. RTRs may be percieved as "Easy.. just pullt out of box and run". Yes.. for the first hour they are!!
But when you have to "fix" something.. your screwed.
Get the SS kit. You'll put the car together. Trust me I think it makes you a better car owner. (this goes for 1:1 cars too but that would be in a perfect world. lol)
But if you really need RTR.. the HPI and TA NTC3 are both good. A friend of mine had a ball with the NTC3 RTR. He now upgraded it and races locally.
(He went nuts when he saw the RS4 SS I had and bought his NTC3 the next day!! )
The 4Tec is plenty of fun. It comes with a 2 speed tranny standard and its faster than the 2 mentioned above, but There are some reliability issues and some issues with the handling (for racing). IF your a supermarket-racer, check it out too!
Good luck!

I'm new to the hobby and a little bit puzzled on how to tune my car the right way?I've tuned it to the default settings as it says in the manual. I'm still breaking it in also. I've ran about two and a half tanks of fuel but there's one thing that I'm mad about. The thing takes 5 minutes to start up. It's a recoil torq 21 that sits inside my Duratrax Axis. Can someone help me to get this car started?
