A smaller pinion will decrease speed, but make more low end power-torque and increase run times on electrics

A larger one will increase top end but decrease bottom end power. And decrease run times on electric

A bigger pinion will also make the motor run hotter.

Thanks guys, that clears it up, it's been a while.

Can either of you guys explain how to determin the actual gear ratio for a given setup. If you make the main gear on say a TC-3 smaller or larger and/or the pinion gear what the effects would be?

Thanks again,
Bill

Kinda be the opposite, the larger the spur gear the slower you will go, while the smaller the spur the faster, but with consequences.
