Nimhs require no discharging.... at all... Any battery that is Nimh means that it has no memory... therefore they wont burn out after a period of time like nicds will...

AMP: The amount of power you charge your batts at, Most NiCD's can be charged up to 6AMPS, NiHM can only go to 2.5AMPS

I use the Duratrax Mini Peak Charger. It has a mode JUST for charging, discharging AND a discharge/charge cycle. It also has a trickle charge for when your batts are done and you don't know, it keeps them freshly peaked. I also use it for Conditioning. It's $64.99 but WELL worth it

Preserving your batts... if you are going on a trip or long times away from home and you won't be using them. Put them in the freezer or fridge and never in a spot where the sun will be directly on them.

hope this helps~

don't be suprised when you blow it up at that amount of amps [>:] I charge my mini-t pack (6 cell) at .75-1.2 amps.

thats not true... i have team orion 3000 mah nimh batterys and they suggest to charge them at 3 amps...

and the reason you can only charge your "mini t" battery that low is because its only like 1200 mah?? or something

sorry but i believe your misinformed.heres what acouple of the top battery suppliers say.

ballistic battery
All Ballistic Batteries are charged at 5 amps and discharged at 30 amps on Competition Electronics Turbo Matchers. We use a .90 voltage cutoff and a 5000 discharge end time.
promatch racing
How do I charge the GP 3300 cells?
I recommend charging these cells at 5-6 amps with a .03 peak detect (CEI turbo thirty/thirty five). A lower amp rate will give more run time and a higher charge rate will give more voltage.
surge batteries
How should I charge my new GP3300 cells?
We recommend charging your cells at 5-6 amps for race conditions. Charging at higher rates will give the cells a higher discharge voltage curve with less run time. In other words if you charge higher than 5-6 amps, you'll get most likely get more acceleration early, but chances are you 'punch' will flatten out toward the end of the race.
as for your mini-t pack,aren't they a cell packs?if so thats why you cant charge them as high.

go ahead and crank up that charger for your sub-c pacs.

In my experience one of the best chargers out there is the Great Planes Triton, it is a little more pricey and requires a power supply but it is a great charger. Will charge, discharge and cycle just about any battery. This charger also has memory settings for packs and all the settings are adjustable.
There are plenty of cheaper budget chargers out there that will charge Nicad and nihm but if you want a really nice charger you want something along the lines of the Triton. There are also several other chargers in the Triton class that are just as good.
Here is a link for the Triton:
[link=http://www.electrifly.com/gpmm3150.html]http://www.electrifly.com/gpmm3150.html[/link]

As for Nicad and Nimh, Nicads require cycleing every so forth to reduce memory effects, Nihm are known to resist memory more so the idea is that they do not require cycles. This is not entirely true, Nihms do still require a cycle from time to time to ensure the pack is still functioning to its rated capacity. If you do not test any rechargeable battery from time to time the battery may fail while in service, in a car it could invoke a runaway, in a plane it could produce a crash. You decide if your model is worth a cycle from time to time.

As for charge rates, it depends on the rated capacity of the battery, here is the Triton manual which depicts a charge and discharge rate table. It is the second to the last page in this PDF document.
[link=http://www.electrifly.com/manuals/gpmm3150-manual-v1_1.pdf]http://www.electrifly.com/manuals/gpmm3150-manual-v1_1.pdf[/link]

Keep in mind that some manufacturers provide specific charge rates for their batteries, I have used the Triton table on just about all my batteries and never had a problem.

For the question about AMP or Ampere it is a measurement of current, some basic research on Basic Electricity and ohms law will give you a full understanding of voltage, current and resistance and the relation between them.....Google it.

I have heard that factory drivers charge there 3300 packs at 8-10 amps but there junk after one or two times. I charge mine at 5 amps and get a good 2 year use out of them and i do discharge using a cutoff switch. I dont run my car till it quits running. I will run for 5-6min max then put a fresh cool battery in. Everyone has there own way of doing things so always do what works best for you. Starting out i would not charge over 2-3 amps untill you learn how everything works. Never charge over twice the number of the battery.
1200=2.4amps
1600=3.2amps
2000=4.0amps
3300=6.6amps
This is what my local hobby shop (LHS) tells everyone???
Dont leave your battery unatended while charging.
Right or wrong this is just my opinion Thanks
