bandit vs. rusty
I wanted to get a cheap electric offroad to do some minor bashing, nothin too serious and i also want to spend less than 150 for RTR(tight budget)
So i was considering getting a traxxas rustler or the traxxas bandit, which holds up better? which can take more abuse?
thnx

RE: bandit vs. rusty
i would like something with decent ground clearance
and when i get it i want to beef it up first with upgrades so its even more durable
is there really a big difference with the msc vs. esc because the msc one is alot cheaper(rustler)? im not looking to do racing or have a performance truck i just want a basher

Definitely get the Rustler, with the ESC. The Bandit is a poor runner and not very well designed. My neighbor bought one, regreted it from the day he got it. He also had rustler as do I. No comparison.

RE: bandit vs. rusty
FWIW, I was gonna get a Bandit for my first rc. While I at the lhs I had the opportunity to talk to a few guys who had been running for many years. They advised going with the rusty because it was more durable all the way around and there are lots of upgrades and hop ups available. Same price too!
I got a rusty and am havin' a blast...

RE: bandit vs. rusty
i dont see how there is a big durability difference seeing as how the main difference is the front wheels and body. they have different lenght a arms and there is a piece ont he front shock tower to mount the truck body. i had a bandit and it was a great car. that thing was abused(my first car) it hit the foundation multipul timesa nd my basketball hoop which is filled with cement. i hit some big jumps int the winter so the landings where pretty hard. i was happy that i didnt get the one with the esc becasue it is over priced. it cant handle any lower turn motors and the msc worked fine. only problem was after a while the servo would get un centered and i would take off the msc and adjust the servo by hand. i traded it for a evader and i like the evader more. better design but the traxxas are probably more durable.

all i have broken is the front shock tower because my brother jumped on it. my bumper was cracke dbut still serves its purpose. my friend has it now and it runs fine.

I think the bandit or rusty are both really nice RC's and you can quickly change the bandit into a ST by using stampede body mounts. They go on with no mods. I used Stampede body mounts and bought some pro-line road rage tires for rear and traxxas slicks for the front.
