I will only buy at lhs if I need it now and I am close to the store and the price is the same. I hate driving 1 hr to get parts. I prefer online. If the lhs has to order the part then I can to.

I buy 100% from my LHS. I guess i'm pretty lucky though because of the 3 lhs around me there is one of them that has a huge selection of parts and always has almost anything i am looking for. Also that shops prices are better than 99% of the online prices, even tower.

like i said i'm pretty lucky. I've actually talked to a guy that own's one of the other shops in the area and hes told me that he dosent even know how the one shop that sells parts for less than most online places that i'm talking about is able to do it, because alot of his prices are actually under "cost" of the other shops in the area.
Dunno how he does it but it works out good for me that he does

yeah, by me theres 3 main shops..Larrys, Anything goes and ryders. Larrys has a great inventory and prices, anything goes has decent prices and the owner is a real cool guy that knows his stuff but the selection is kind'a low...ryders....well there ryders LOL, not a good selection and always 15-20% higher than anyone else

I support my lhs whenever possible. They probably get about 75% of my hobby budget. The rest is impulse buys on the net or purchases at another shop further away that I've been going to for almost 15 years before I even knew the local place existed.

Frankly i would firebomb my *L*HS - the guy in there is a complete tw@ - and I managed to get a mini-t, shipped, with a new shell and an orion5cell Nimh pack for LESS than the sticker price in the shop - there are some quite good Hobby Shops that are a little less local, but as Modelsport-Uk.com give good advice on the phone, often get the parts to me the next day and are a lot cheaper than DumbassModelCentre (names changed to protect the ignorant) I only go to a physical shop to browse.
Also, with the strong £ against the $ buying parts from tower in the US makes them almost half price - and on a kit or something the saving even covers Shipping and Duty, and still undercuts Uk Online shops...

i try to support my LHS also, but sometimes you see the price and just dont want it, after you check tower, and find out its alot cheaper. but since i also have a ofna, which ofna prices are normaly fixed prices were ever you go, like team losi.

one other thing, you LHS will also be more than at tower, because that price is with shipping cost. so next time your on tower just add the shipping cost in then go to your LHS and check what there price is, you might be surprised

You guys should live in South Africa - check some of these prices in local hobby hops for equipment
Tamiya TT-01 kit - 160USD
TL-01 Kit - 208USD
Acoms 2 channel Radio - 100USD
Basic Peak Charger - 100USD
GP3300Mah Battery pack - 70USD
The hobby is extremely expensive over here - I di my first purchase online at Tower so we'll see how it goes.

LHS about 95% of the time. Depending on which way I decide to drive on my way home from work, I can pass by five different shops. Granted I drive over 40 miles on my way home every day. The other 5% is when I can't find something locally or there is a big price difference. But most times one or the other LHS will come close to matching an online price.

I support my LHS. we have races there so the LHS is also a track. without supporting it, they could close down and thn the track we all race and run on with also disapear. So, we support our LHS for selfish reasons
