Default Removing old tired from rims?

Ok all your car guys,
I am an airplane and jet guy but just picked up a used Mirage V-spec and need to change the tires. Just how the heck do I get all the old tire bits off the rims? I got most of the old tire off but there is a lot still left glued to the edge of the rims.

Thnaks,
Randy

There are two good ways I know of getting tires off rims. One is to boil the tire and wheel in water for 5 minutes and the CA should crystallize so it cracks off easily. And the second is soaking them in acetone.

Veritech,
I haven't ever had any luck with boiling the tires. I guess I use too much glue, I don't know. i have used debonder (acetone) before and it is a pain IMO, but works better than boiling. I agree with scaleonly4me, just buy some new ones.

I used to heat them up in the the oven at 140 degrees Celsius for about 10 min then the tires go off easily. Last time I did it though I boiled them in water for about 10 min and it was as easy as when I put them in the oven. 5 min boiling though wasn't enough for my tires, it had to be 10+.
Acetone often ruin the surface of the rims and is a lot messier and smellier than boiling water.

I guess I should add this
The other reason most people/racers through them away is
After racing the tread off the tire the rims are usally bent up and out of true. I have removed tires before by boiling them but that was because I wanted to save the tires that were on a bad set of rims. and It was a big pain
you are going to have a very hard time getting all the CA off the rims. and if you dont get the rims perfectly clean the new tire wont fit tightly on the used rims.

Good luck
