To start with a better ESC and if you get onethat has no motor limit you can run what you want . Novak Dually, has no motor limit and can run stock or mod. motors RED

My rustler is upgraded with the Tekin Rebel ESC. It has a lower turn limit than an Traxxas xl-1, but the main difference and gain is braking ability. And you can turn off reverse during a race.
