Do you plan on racing against friends or just by yourself? If you just are going to race by yourself then you dont have to make the track too wide. I made a basical track and I used some dirt to make the ramps. The easiest way to find out where to put the jumps, find stumps or something or roots and cover those with the dirt. Trust me from experience, those roots and stumps will trash the bottom of your car. If you have nothing but grass around then it might be hard to convince your parents to let you make one. I had a nice area that was covered with a bunch of leaves that had dirt under it. All I had to do was cut down some small trees (well get my dad to get the axe out and two whacks and they were gone) and try to get rid of some of the roots. I used to run a track but I find myself picking out a nice straightaway and hitting the biggest jump. I know this is going to sound silly but I used a rake and I raked the "track" out on the dirt to make a nice path to drive on. After running my car on there a few times it is obivious where it is supposed to go because of the marks. On the very first track I had, I used leaves as a barrer (sp) and those worked fine. Making a track is not all too hard if you dont want a huge track. I used nothing but a shovel and a rake to make it. If you plan on racing friends then you might want to make a wider track. See I can just sit on top of my shed if I want to see the whole track but I just stand on one of the stumps that I cant cover and thats where I control my car from. I hope this helps.
