Default Getting Tires off question...

I have heard about baking the tires and I have done it but the tires are still a pain to get off, I preheat the oven to 400 degrees and turn the oven off when I put the tires in it and keep them in there for 15 minutes, how come this doesnt work very good?

boiling is the best. it stops the smell of molten rubber. do it for about 10 mins. and what happens is the glue crystalises. they should pop off no probs.

Boiling had never worked for me. Get some Debonder at any hobby store. A little dab will do ya! Tire comes right off.

Put them in a pot of boiling water with a lid and let 'em boil for 20 min.

I soak mine in asetone for about 24 hours . They just slip off . You have to be careful thro because the acetone will melt some rims.I have found out the most of the white rims will melt ,I have not had any rims that where black to melt yet. If you use foam inserts dont squese out the excess , let them dry on their own .

Unless they are some type of alloy wheels I just buy new wheels. In the time it takes to get them off I can make the money to just buy new wheels. I do not see how heat, acetone or any thing that will work will not mess up the wheels.

Better yet, don't waste money on a little 1 or 2 oz bottle of debonder when acetone(the ingredient that breaks the bond) is available at Home Depot and probably most other places that sell interior and exterior painting supplies for about $5 a quart. I can't see paying $3 for a bottle of watered down acetone when the pure stuff is so much cheaper.

Unless they're chromed, boiling them won't hurt anything. All it does to chrome is remove it, doesn't actually hurt the wheels.
