big problem

Default big problem

i got my new car and tried to to start it up for the break in. i realized it was going to be to hard to start in its current state so i releaved a bit of pressure by unscrewing the glow plug a tiny bit. it worked and started up fist yank. then i tightened the plug and after 10 secs or so i noticed a liquid bubbling out around the plug so i tried to tighten it more but couldnt. anyway can anyone help me please!

Try replacing the small washer between the glow-plug and the engine with a new one. If there are any scratches on the washer they will allow air/oil to escape from the chamber. If you have any other glow plugs lying around look at the washers to see what condition they are in.

Another thing, when you use a glow plug for the first time, the small washer gets compressed and slightly pressed out of shape (slightly softer material). Usually the side contacting the engine will remain completely flat, whilst the side contacting the glow plug will be slightly compressed in the centre (as the glow plug does not press evenly over all the surface of the washer). Every time you use a glow plug, check that the flat side of the washer is facing downwards (so it will be the side contacting the engine). This will reduce the chance of air leaks as the washer becomes exactly shaped to fit the engine/glow plug and creats a good seal.

its not a hyper 7 its a schumacher raptor. i figured out the problem; the copper washer was to big so could slide either side and it wasn't quite centered so i pushed it in with a flatheaded screw driver.
