I'll need a new radio sometime, and just looking for opinions. Using a 40mhz 3 channel Hitec Challenger "Flight" style radio [link=http://here]http://www.train-and-track.co.uk/control/images/ranger3-set.jpg[/link]
I've never used a steering wheel type, and a mate has never gotten used to them, prefers flight style.

In North America it is pretty rare to see a stick style Tx for a RC car or truck. Nearly everyone uses pistols.
Looks to me that over in the UK you have many more folks using the sticks.
I find the pistol grip very intuitive to use and easy to hold. It'd be pretty hard to convince me that i'd have finer control with a stick type tx.
Your best bet is to find someone who will let you try their pistol radio for a while, and see how it suits you.

I have a JR XS-3 Pro pistol and have found that it has excelent control and balance. I have used a stick controler before and when i switched to pistol, it was like second nature. since then i havent gone back to stick for my surface models.

I prefer my Nomadio Sensor then my Futaba T3PK.
I don't really care much for my JR XS3 or JR XR2, but they serve their purpose.
I've also tried the Airtronics M8 and the Ko Propo Ex-10 Helios.

Since now i've been using a pistol controller with my car, untill yesterday when i went out bashing with a friend and he had a spare crappy kyosho 2 stick transmitter. I decided just to have a go with it and after a few minutes of adjusting, I LOVED IT
! I was able to control my car with greater accuracy and i just prefered it much more.
