Default engine break in procedures

which is better running the engine in the car or buy a test stand with a prob on it.
i know the manufactures tell you to run it in the car
but then i have heard and read from magazines that it is best to do it in a test stand with a propeller

with a propeller
???????

Mabey you are looking at the wrong magazine. if its a car your talking about, leave it on the car and run it in. it wouldent make any difference with a plane engine.

I know the search functions is not the best on this site but if you use it I think you will find at least 80% (probably more) of the people recommend heat cycling in the vehicle. Since this is the Truck, car and buggy form I hope you realize I am not talking about airplanes.

I all so would like to know what magazine you are looking at? Or is it an article where someone is trying to sell you their product?

IN THE VEHICLE is my vote!

Leave it on the car and do it. i don't see any advantage of doing it like that. i can just see the engine going flying off!!!![&:]

Thats really funny as they show the engine in a truck and not on a test stand! Break it in in the car or truck and make sure you use the heat cycle method!

For electric motors it may be better to use a prop. I know that if you have a break in bench with a belt breaking the engine in that way is more convenient.
