Default LRP AI Runner

I got a new LRP AI Runner series ESC for my new Blizzard EV, this ESC comes with diodes, do i need to use these with the stock motor? The stock motor has a diode (i think anyway) attached from the + to the - crimped connectors. What do the diodes do?

I'm novice in this whole new AI ESC stuff, any help would be great.
