R/C fan-addict thanks for the input. I was wondering about the team orion as I had seen a good deal on them but had read else where they were not that great. The problem when searching and reading the forums is figuring out what people are basing their comments on. As far as a charger I already own a vision peak 2 which should get me by for a while as it will do nimh, eventually I would like to get a real nice one but I will wait and see how things turn out.
discgolfer72; I was just reading about the original rc10's last night and would have been another great choice. But I have already purchased a used stampede for him. As far as racing there are no tracks with in 80 miles of where we live so that is not a concern. I just need the batteries and motor to get him going. There is a lot of other things I would like to buy for it also but my budget is about shot and that has to do with I recently bought a Mayhem for myself (my first RC) and the wife is going to kill me if she ever figures out just how much I spent total in the last couple of months.
Thanks a lot for everyones help. Dave

When purchasing batteries I'd say it has to be a good brand. I get 15 minutes of runtime with my sanyo 2400 nicd packs, which is more than with those team orion 3000 packs. Quality packs also have longer lifetime. Concerning the model, I'd pick a kit, as it means that when you have to repair the task is much easier. My first cars were tamiyas and I can thouroghly recommend them.

well a lot of it rests on what you arre wanting to pay for instance
stampeed (good beginer) - £100 to an Emax at £300
do the sums there is £200 in it [&o][&o] how ever you being into helicopters sounds like you are going to be a cheepskate?

I have owned just about every battery from sport 1500 to matched packs. The packs with GP or IB cells not only go faster than the no brand cells listed:
But they last much longer (more charge/discharge cycles) before they need to be replaced. The cells that you have found on e-bay would be awesome packs at that price to start with. I have bought many batteries off of e-bay and have yet to go wrong.
What am I trying to say? Get packs that are assembled with gp or ib cells, it doesnt really matter where from. those gp3300's you have found on e-bay wold be perfect. the IB cells aren't worth the extra $10 for starting out. I would go for those.
I would get these: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCUH3&P=ML

Thanks for the recommendations. I went with the EMax, and my son loves it! It is plenty fast and with the 3800 mah batteries, it runs a long time. We are very pleased with the car.
Thanks
Thanks

They sell for around $339 at my hobby shops . Have patience so people have time to answer your posts
. If you needed a price fast just look at Tower , Horizon , and other sites .
