Default Help Rewiring Starter box!

Hey,

My mate has this problem. He has a Team magic X5 starter box with Corally connectors and wants to convert them to Tamiya connectors so he can use his stick packs. He has purchased 2 Tamiya connectors and Is unsure on how to wire these up!

There are only 2 wires coming out of the starter box with Corally conectors (Black and red) What dies he need to do to add Tamiya connectors to these so he can use 2 stick packs?

He drew this little diagram.

As you can see there are 2 wires coming out of the Starer box (Left hand side)! What dies he do to make this take 2 stick packs?

Thank you

All you need to do is hook each black wire from the new connectors to the one black wire on the box . Also the same for the red wiring .

Thanks for the reply, But if he did that wouldnt he only be able to use 1 stick pack?
He would like to use 2? Would we need to do what you said, and get some connector or something?

Cheers!

no , you have to use two . Actually I told you the wrong way . It would only get 7 volts that way . Cut the old plugs off the box , on one new connector connect the red to red wire onthe box . Connect that black wire on the new plug to the red wire on the other new plug and connect the remaining black wire on the plug to the black wire on the box . This way you will be giving the proper voltage to the box . Better yet , just get a gell cell from your LHS . Or a hobby supplier .

It would have been better and cheaper to buy a gell cell that is designed for starter boxes . Some reason it won`t let me upload my drawing . All you are doing is wiring the batteries in series . 2 stick packs will not last as long if you buy a gell cell .

Yes, that shows 2 stick packs in series giving a total voltage of 14.4v.

Yes, you can also buy just the connectors and solder them yourself

That is not like the picture you drew. It would only give you the same voltage, and twice the capacity. (parallel wiring)

It would have been better and cheaper to buy a gell cell that is designed for starter boxes
If I were you or your buddy I would also recommend dropping $12 on a 12.6v lead-acid battery.
This one has 4.5Ah, most likely much higher than the battery you plan on using.
