unfortunatly, I am leaving the forum for a period of time. Just my opinion but there has sure been alot of flame wars over the last few weeks and I can't handle it. This forum is kinda "My Getaway" and I enjoy it here, but the bickering has to stop. Reading a post and as happy as a clam then the flames get rolling, it sure takes me from I love this place, to I can't read another thing. I know there is going to be difference in opinions, that's a given. But for you guys (you know who you are, and I am not pointing the finger) to bash eachother for ridiculus things come on!!
On a good note i will peer in from time to time and when this forum becomes a place where everyone cares about the hobby again, I will resume posting. I have to say thanks to a couple people just for being down right honest and enjoyable people.
Crash_Me_Over and 3Maxxman, thanks to the both of you for helping me with problems i have had past and present, I know there are more of you but you 2 sure stick out in my head. Not posting is going to be rough.. Everyone take care, and let's all just get along.. Till another day I'm out..

jeeptuff.....DON"T GO!!!
While I do agree that there have been a few people who have allowed themselves to act in an immature way and have caused some of us to wonder why we're here.....I also think of all of the good people (your one of them) who are very grateful and responsive to the help and suggestions that they receive from all of us. You have been one of those people I believe that others have been helped by and do appreciate. I can understand the discouragement brought on by a few but as BNZ' said....that is what the moderators are here for.....when and if things go sour.
When I log onto RCU I am always looking forward to seeing who is on line....seeing any questions that are being asked from all people....reading the responses from those who take time to respond....and then seeing the reply of the person who has asked for help return and tell all of us that they have the problem solved....or the input from many has helped to look at other areas for troubleshooting the problem.
You my friend....have become one of those good people who bring value to a forum like this. No B.S. from you.....your here because you also enjoy helping others and knowing you can be helped by others who "want" to help when called upon. Before you decide to leave....try and realize that there are those of us who do want and enjoy your company. Even though we have never met.....I sense what you bring here to this forum and no doubt to people that you know in your every day life. Squabbles will happen....it's human nature...for better or worse....it happens.
I know I sound like I'm babbling on and on....I don't mean to....it's my way of saying thank you for taking time out of your day to be here to help out as you have and I wish you would reconsider and not leave. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
As for the people who have been struggling with people on these forums....how about we all get it behind us and help out by offering something of value? Knowledge....willingness to share....consideration for new and old RC enthusiasts alike. No one person here makes this happen on his own. We all offer advice/suggestions/knowledge to the pool of thought. How about we do it in a respectful and caring manner?
jeeptuff....think about it!

Jeeptuff, forums are a pain sometimes, you get lots of opinions and you know what they say... Opinions are like A**holes, everybody has one and some of them STINK!
Don't get fried on the flames, it happens in every forum, again they are opinions. If you don't agree that's ok, but don't let it drive you away. People are what make this fun and without feedback life would be pretty boring. There are kids and adults that act like kids just looking to get a rise out of someone and they sit back and laugh. Then when they have a need people will remember them. If you choose to stay away for a while thats ok but don't let it keep you away!
Another stupid little saying I like:
RULE #1 Don't sweat the small stuff.
RULE #2 It's all small stuff.
Anyway I hope to see you a Maxxland, or send me an email, maybe we can meet and bash at your favorite spot.
Jeff

I'm new to these boards.
But...one thing I do know...
Is that these problems occur on EVERY board!!
Its just a matter of will power to ignore it all, and try not to get involved yourself.
Come on man.....how can you let others ruin it for you?
You should have a strong enough character to put up with it.
Moderoraters do everyday...why cant you?
Just stick it out.....
If you dont....
as a newbie.
My first impression of you?
A quitter....
A coward....???
You know you can do better.

I agree with the others. I participate in two other forums, and it is the same all over. Forums are no different than people you are around every day. You can't shut them all out you just have to ignore and go on. Besides,... I need all the experienced people I can find some days.
I vote you should stay.

Your right, people have their own opinions and that is what makes us all individual. If someone voicing their opinion bothers you than you should be gone. If someone says that the R/C car I drive is a piece of crap thats cool because as long as Im happy with it thats all that matters and what they say doesnt bother me. When people start making comments about you personally then that is when it becomes a problem and shouldnt be tolerated. Deal with the opininons, not the attitudes.

jeeptuff - don't go. I am in many forums too and there will always be bad apple in a bunch. What we need are the mods to closely monitor those with flaming intentions and warn them, otherwise, ban them when deemed necessary.
We need people who help keep the fun in r/c. Let's keep together and keep those batteries charged or fuel tank filled and go have a blast

In all the years I've been taking part in forums and chats, I've never understood people instigating fights online. I just ignore them and figured everyone else did the same. It's a shame to see that they really do have an effect on quality forums such as this.
I don't mind Jeep taking off for awhile, we all do from time to time. Just angers me why he is....

jeeptuff....It's great to see you back! I think it took several of us by surprise as to why you decided to leave so suddenly.
I use to say to my kids when they were all still at home. When they would come home from school and feeling irritated about someone in their class or in school.....and they would say: "I really hate him/her"....I would reply with: Well....how well do you know them? When they go home at night....what kind of family life do they have? Are their parents together? Are their family problems that are causing this person to be depressed? Maybe there are things going on in their personal life that you will never know about....and when they behave in a negative way toward you and others....maybe it's a reaction to what they may be experiencing at home?
I know there are allot of other reasons that cause people to become irritated......to many to list.....but after all is said and done.....I think everyone here was hoping you would reconsider and hang around awhile longer.
It's good to see your back!

Jeepstuff,
I have been doing this whole thing for a long time now. And This is one of the BEST board there is as far as good people and minimal flame wars. Sure, people disagree, but nothing like other boards.
The problem with User forums is, you can't display body language easily. Like, if I was to say "Your ****'n insaine!" Am I joking, or is it an insult? Words alone can't display tone or any other vital characteristics needed to portray the whole message. When your a baby you learn all about body language and it's importance in judging people, and establishing what they they are trying to communicate to you... Online, this is absent, and I guess human nature assumes the worse, and the dark sides of people show.
Apparently, I'm a major pain in the ass on 1 or 2 of my Boards or Mailing lists, becuase people take things too literally, and usually stop reading or careing about what you wrote after what they feel is an insult takes place... Recently, I wrote an email that had a 1 line humorous insult in it, and a 20 line explanation, but overall, I still was the *******, and it ignighted into a huge war... In 30 messages, the first line was in dispute, and the other 20 sat silently, as if they didn't exist...
Human Nature sucks. And keep in mind that the Internet is the breeding grounds for the kids you beat up in Highschool to finally be able to make fun of you... Don't take it personally...
Humor: Click here Warning: Very Crude Internet Humor... But it proves a point

LOL.. crude humor indeed!!
I h ave to agree with Celly..
This is indeed one of the BEST FORUMS I've EVER seen
ITs like people actually care here!
When you ask for help.. and you get it fixed, people ask "so how did go?"
You wont see this in most everyday forums!
Well now that your back.. go post some feedback!!!

Well for now I am kind of in and out of the board due to my 9 year old daughters apendix ruptured on Tuesday morning. She had surgery Tuesday afternoon and is still in the hospital, I needed to come home tonight and shower and take a couple hour cat nap, I'm working an almost 50 hours with no sleep. I figured I would get that out so you all weren't wondering why I had not posted since the above post. At this point she could be up at the Hospital for about a week, she's very sore and pissed at me for being a hard ass as she says, the meaning of that isthat she has to get up and walk the loop in the pediatric ward in order to releive the gas pressure that build in her tummy from the pain killers, so I have had a pushy attitude towards her to get her do just do it. Enough on that for now i will update you on her progress this weekend.
As for the welcome back I really appriciate it, the time away was rough, I really didn't leave, just didn't log in and still read alot of posts regularly. Once again thank you all.
3Maxx, heck yeah, once this settle down here at home let's get together head out to the job site and build a track, if we don't like it we con change it. We should try to get some of the other "LOCALS" to join us. It would be a blast. How bout it Crash_Me_Over????
Well I am going to jump in the shower and catch a wink or 2 before I go back up with Sky( I have to be there before breakfast in the morning.) You all take care..

------------------------------------UPDATE--------------------------------------
It's 1:30 Saturday afternoon and we made it home from the hospital. Sky is doing great but still on the sore side. She was sure a trooper through this whole ordeal and still has a long road ahead of her. I commend her for the bravery that she showed, she's my girl, and I love her to pieces. Thanks for listening...

jeeptuff.....Sorry to hear about your daughters health issue. That is one of the toughest things any parent will endure....having their child suffering from any illness. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your daughter and your family....hoping you all a speedy recovery!
I can relate to this as my son when he was 12 also had his appendix removed. According to the Dr....one more hour with his condition as it was then....he probably would not have survived the surgery. He is now 26 years old and is a healthy young man.
As for "ALL" of us getting together......it would be quite a drive for me as I live on the Eastern side of the state.....near Pullman. However....we (wife and I) are planning to visit Seattle this summer so maybe I could toss in the 4x4's and include some fun time with the RC gang over there. I'll keep that in mind!
Thanks for the update / info on your situation jeeptuff. Here's hoping to a positive outcome.

Thanks Crash, Sky is doing well and recovering quickly. Only time can make her well now, and she is being so co-operative. She'll be 100% in no time.
For some reason I thought you were in the Seattle area, but hey I do make the occasional trips to Spokane and the Gorge. Where abouts are you on the East side? If you don't mind me asking??
If you do make it over to this side this summer let me know, we could get together for some play time and I'll even buy dinner.

That's great news! I'm happy for all of you! Yes....she needs time to heal and she will. That's one thing kids seem to do pretty well....is heal fast.
We live near Pullman......which is where Washington State University is located. Actually......we are about 7 miles from Pullman in a small town called Albion. All 632 people....not counting dogs...cats...and other animals.
That's a generous offer.....you buying dinner. Maybe with your recent medical bills....I could foot the dinner bill? Just a thought. Yes....I'll be sure to get in touch with you before we travel over this summer. We try to take in a few baseball games during the summer at Safeco so this would be a good reason to also enjoy RC while there.
Thanks for the information and status on how things are going for you. Hang in there.....soon your daughter will be up and around and it'll all seem like a bad dream.
Talk to you soon.
