Hey Guys,

In the November issue of RC Car Action they have a article of the Worlds Fastest RC Car Challenge. It is pretty cool what people came up with for there cars. The new record is 134.4mph. Pretty impressive considering that the old record was something like 112mph. His other car went 160.1mph. This is unofficial because he wasn't able to do a second pass to confirm this speed (it crashed at 90mph). The man who did it is Nic Case. For the official record he used a nitro TC3 chassis but electrified it. For the other car he used a CustomWorks. The event took place at the California Speedway. They even coated the strip with VHT.

Here are the records for all the other classes
1/8 Buggy- 67.5mph
Mini- 76.9mph
Motorcycle- 64.6mph
1/5- 84.6mph
Moster Truck- 61.9mph
Independent Team- 98.1mph

Interesting, I thought people use pan chassis to make speed records, none there?

I drag race and we coat the track with vht all the time. Man is that some tack stuff. One day some kids had some regular toys r us cars and they ran over the vht and there car almost came to a dead stop. Gotta be carful with that stuff as it can aid in breaking parts.

What exactly is VHT, I dont drag race or race on road I have only raced off road and have never heard of this stuff, but am curious about it. But I seen the vid of that car doing the speed pass and that thing hauled butt big time. I'm glad I have a LCD 17" flat screen because I dont know if I would have been able to see the car with the other monitor we had. I cant even explain how fast that thing went, I mean it's just insane.

Radar guns are not all ways accurate. This is why to set and official record you have to use a speed trap. They sure do not use radar guns for 1 to 1 racing. I hear next year they are going to use a speed trap. Do not get me wrong as that car is flying. When they back it up with a speed trap run then it will be official. Guess we will find out next year. If I am not mistaken the person that had the record before of 111MPH was done with a speed trap as it is in the Gunnies Book of Records and they only way they will publish it is when a speed trap is used.

The next speed event we are holding is on 23rd September in the UK. We are getting some interest for the event for next year where we will be running the event in the UK in conjunction with the one (or 2) in the USA. The winners from each class can come from either the 2 (or 3) events

What method will you be using to check the speed? I sure hope a speed trap!

2 radar guns and a speed trap

A laser triggered speed trap I hope. This will be way more accurate than the radar guns will even be.
