Default on board camera

On the internet i was looking for a camcorder to use for on board driving on my rustler. Does anybody have any recomendations? I found a 'digital blue tony hawk skateboarding helmet cam' which i would guess wouldnt skip from the vibrations. I would make custom shock absorbing bracket for whatever camera anyway. I hope that whatever one i get can take a beating.

I strapped my digital camera to the top of my Raven and to a Revo and it did okay. If you found a camera that worked well you could make some awesome videos.[link]http://www.rcuvideos.com/view_video.php?viewkey=9d9058fcb0b968dbbbd6[/link]

Some of the Sony Handycams have a very good SteadyShot system, and yield excellent results under rough circumstances. Even the older models exhibit good performance. Depending upon the level of your driving, most cameras will show distortion from vibration and the idea would be to keep it to a minimum.

I agree with smaxx3.3. The wireless cams are the way to go. I think you can get some cool cams on-line if you Google Gizmo Guru.

I used a small "sugar cube" cam in my RealDriver project. It was around $50. You can find them all over the net, just search for 1.2GHz wireless camera.

It is 640x480. Color is ok if you tune it in right. It does well outdoors and in high light but indoors it has a hard time seeing in dark places.

Sounds pretty decent for it's size. I'll have to look into that, thanks. :-)

That camera looks like it would work pretty well! I might have to look into one of those.

That's pretty cool. I couldn't find frame rate information, but it's compact enough to mount anywhere.

I have one (Tony Hawk Helmet Cam) that I'm using for on-board video of RC park flyers. The resolutionis only 320x240 @ 15 frames per second when capturing to SD card (32Mb SD card included) or 640x480 @ 15 frames per second when used as a web cam connected to a PC.

The video is surprisingly watchable and the cam comes with some great capture/editing software. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this camera, which was $90.00AU but I picked one up at the post Christmas sales for only $53.00AU and I think it's well worth the investment at that price!!

All up it weighs in at only 150 grams including batteries, SD card and rubber helmet mounting strap. Without the strap its only 100 grams. Very small and great for RC planes. I'll post a link to some video when I get around to editing it...
